hi guys! I'm new to the forum and I need some help desperately. I've basically bought a black skyline r32 1990 model gtst and it's got rego till oct 2011 from Victoria.

the car is stock as a rock with coils, 5 spots of rust (bout 0.5cm in size) and no compliance plate.

it has the vin on it but thats it.

the previous owner has owned it for the last 7 years and bought it from a car yard.

how can i get my blue slip and compliance letter?

it has no exhaust, rb20, nothing.

can anyone help me pls? I'm in parramatta but I'm willing to drive.

im regretting the buy right now.

any help would be highly appreciated.

pls pm me if that's easier.

Hey Nat, welcome to SAU

So you have a bog stock R32 GTST?

Nothing wrong, nothing removed, nothing modified?

I can't understand how it wouldn't have a compliance plate...

Check your door frames.

You're looking for a green plate, or a pink sticker.

Have a read through here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/155844-no-compliance-plate-on-car/

I'm pretty sure that car would have had to be complied to be registered in VIC. Have you taken it to your mechanic for an inspection? If not, go down and have a chat to them as well.

hey. =]

yup stock as rock with coilovers, some small rust and i cant find the compliance plate anywhere. searched the car inside out. firewall, doors, boot, engine bay, everywhere.

ive called up vicroads and they cant seem to help me as nsw is stricter than there.

i have no import papers as i didnt import it and all i have is the dealership papers the prev owner got it from.

theres no stickers or plates, just a blu eplate stating the chassis no from japan nissan co.

the car isnt stolen as i checked it before i bought it.

its still got rego from it in vic and has had continuous rego. i dont understand..

im about to call transport aus and c if they got the compliance papers or import papers as they should have them on record but this is such a bad experience.

ive taken it to about 14 mechanics already and they cant help me.

they say i need an engineering certificate (quotes 880-1100$) to get a compliance plate/paper and then blue slip then rego...

is it possible the car falls under the 15 year rule?

Is it still driveable with the vic plates on it?

The engineers cert sounds about right if there is no compliance plate on it. It sucks that it's not there.

Unfortunatly it's going to cost you a bit more to get it on the road.

Hang on, you don't need a compliance plate on the car, if it was brought in under the 15 year rule it was not complied and therefore does not need a compliance plate. It also would not have a compliance plate if it is a personal import

Have you talked to the RTA?

Also talk to DOTARS and get a copy of the import approval, that will help convince whoever has to rego it.

I would say though, it is very possible it will require a blueslip. It should not require an engineer's report.

Finally, have a talk to someone like Todd at Japlink and see what they suggest.

thanks duncan, risking and tbag.. hope u guys are right.

i have emailed dotars after speaking to them today and awaiting their reply.

hopefully they can send me a copy of the import papers.

yeah it was imported in feb 2005 and sold in august 2005. im pretty sure it falls under the 15 year rule.

engineer cert im getting off Richard Grdusiak in penrith this thursday for 770$. what do u guys think?

im such a noob at this. thanks so much for ur help guys!!

    • @GTSBoy This method was able to get readings of -10 to -2, so it looks like its monitoring.  Now I need to figure out why the vacuum on the line provided isn't alternating with manifold pressure.  I went with 2 lines that an RB25 tuner recommended but I'll get a longer hose and try directly off the back of the manifold.  He may have been used to OEM intake setups while I have a DBW setup that removed the MAF and IACV.
    • I work at a car detailing and tinting shop called Quark which gets all manner of German cars in usually (mainly due to a contract with Mercedes Benz Kita Osaka, BMW Nishinomiya and others) but every once in a while something special comes in, like a fully restored 1972 HS30 Nissan Fairlady 240ZG... The shop owner had immediately started applying film to the windows as soon as it was in the shop so the interior was completely covered in towels and plastic sheets. But I could get a few photos of the engine bay which was restored like new. Such an amazing car to see in pristine condition in Japan these days.
    • Was going to say the car pulls up nicely everywhere, especially going into that last long right hander before the main straight. Looks like a lot of fun.
    • Hey Dave, welcome aboard! Good to see another soon-to-be Stagea owner here. The wagons are awesome — plenty of space, still got that Skyline DNA, and loads of potential if you’re into mods. Definitely post up pics when you get it, everyone here loves seeing new builds. What model/year are you looking at?
