Hi to the guys and gals of SAU, I've gone and got myself an RS Four S Stagea for a family wagon and the info in it in the UK is next to non existant. I have no real idea why but so far the Stagea section on this forum has saved my ass at least once in looking for things. In regards to this if I find out any information or specifics I'll post in the appropriate thread and keep the knowledge going. For now though it's back out to finish pulling my dash apart and replacing blown bulbs, nothing miffs me more than not being able to see what buttons I need to press when it's dark (I know this is asking for trouble as I'm a) a pom and b) buttons in the dark eh? lol however I am leaving it as is :P )

Thats my quick intro for now and I'll be sure to spam up the forum with pictures and questions later, I'm guessing it'll probably be the morning for you guys hehehe.

Chris

Ty all and Gezza I'm from the area near Hemel Hempstead originally (the place where the fuel depot exploded) but live near Gloucester now. Think I've got some info and mods for guys with S2 stag's regarding the dash and climate control lighting but I'm waiting on parts to verify things and make sure it all works as planned. Could save some hassle for someone and may be applicable in part to the S1's too. Hopefully I'll get to post pics and get myself a thread going sometime soon but between long trips to see the folks, keeping the kids amused and my split shifts (2 days and 2 nights, 10 hours a shift) I have very little time to work on the Stagea or get online and even less time to get my Prelude back on the road as it's at my folks place still. Of course the weekly rape of my wages with tax and more tax when I buy or import things doesn't help, not sure on the exchange rates but we're on about £1.41+ per litre of super unleaded at the moment, not wallet friendly lol.

I'm off to try and route a pipe for my new boost gauge before work now and think I'll be on the heavily caffinated "energy" drinks tonight, fingers crossed the bulbs turn up tomorrow and I'll get some pics and info up asap. On that note if any of you guys have an electronic copy of the stagea workshop manual either in english or japanese I'd love a copy for reference and possibly to get translated if I can convince some friends of friends to do mates rates hehe.

Thanks again for the warm welcome and you never know I might get to travel back to Brisbane sometime, just need to win a stack of cash first

    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
    • So, now all you need to do is connect the 2 or 3x 12v feeds into the unit to permanent 12v, ACC 12V and IGN 12V that you can find in the spot behind the stereo, and the earth, and then it will switch on with the car.
