I use just cars - Because I am under 25.

But next year, when I hit that magic insurance number, I'll be moving to Suncorp. I know a few people over 25 with full comp and paying under $700 with 2 door skylines.

I was given a flat out "no imports" with Suncorp. How'd they get them through?

Lube.

so far i've been getting rates around $1000 for full coverage, and $350 for third party, firs, and theft. and those rates are damn good in relation to what i am used to back home.

If you want to talk about busting out lube, then go live in ontario canada for a while. if you're under 25 you'll be paying around $2000 minimum for the most basic coverage on any old regular 4 cyl 4 door crappy little beater. but once you turn 25 rates would drop to around $1k for full coverage.

If you can get a quote on tge site they will set you up on call. Every insurer opens and closes certain risks from time to time.

so far nrma is around 1100, $8100 insured value

just car is the same price but $12,000 insured value. just car can also be brought down to $750, if i raise the excess to $1200.

so i think i'll be going with just car... just now have to decide on how much of a risk there is that i'll crash

thanks for the help everyone.

Not sure to be honest, it is just a quick mention in conversation. I know SonnyQ uses Suncorp with his 34 GTT. I think his is the high $600's for full comp. The guy I purchased my 34 from used Suncorp and was around $700 he said.

Just car is a right of passage for under 25s with turbos. Happy driving.

  • 2 weeks later...

Suncorp own (not a complete list either):

Just Car

Shannons

AAMI

Insure My Ride

I know there are others as well. If you want to minimize hassles with theft claim ensure you have an Aus standards imobiliser fitted, apparently some of the company's have no hassle taking your money and refusing to pay out if there is no immobiliser fitted.

    • Totally equivalent. Stock often goes from the comp cover because that's where the actuator is also installed and the factory needs 2" of hose to make the connection - and it comes as a pre-assembled unit. They totally have a boost reference from somewhere between the turbo and the throttle(s). Oh, jeez. Just do it in M12 then. We don't actually care that much. I would expect any such AN converter fitting to rely on an o-ring or some other seal onto a flat surface under the flange of the hex**, because bolt threads are no intended to provide a pressure seal. unlike..... pipe threads. **which also requires a suitably flat and smooth surface on the turbo's boss to provide the seal.
    • I also used NP   That’s were it’s seems to be the best place to fit it? All schematic shows also that it’s should be referenced from the turbo housing. But idk, I do see high hp cars without any connection or anything to their turbos, so I really don’t know how they connect their things
    • I do have loctite 243 and 246 and a few more models. I could drill it now in place and make new threads for m12 and order an4 - m12 coupling and fit that to the turbo. Run a braided hose to the EBC which I could get a an4 to 1/8npt
    • So M12 and sealant should be fine?    NPT ” because that’s what I had and what I could get atm.
    • Wouldn’t touch par if they gave it to me. You need to ask how much power you’re looking to make and then add about 50% to it because that’s what you’ll end up making  The factory box says no more at about 350kw or so, the upgraded synchro boxes won’t handle much over 500kw for long and at that point you’re looking at an auto or dog engagement manual,  once you’ve gone dog engagement you may as well go sequential, they cost a little bit more but it’s worth it  also while you’re at it you should upgrade the transfer case with 10 friction plates
