My original speedometer (Series 1) was faulty, so I replaced it with a new Speedometer (Series 2). Only Problem I have found is my speed reads at double my actual speed. Will I have to get this calibrated at a shop or is there something I have missed when swapping speedometer's. Also is there a compatibility issue between the two series?

i wasn't aware of there being a difference between the 2. was the speedo sender you got from a different spec car by any chance? so if yours is a natro was it from a turbo? reason i ask is that i'm pretty sure they run different diff ratios so may be calibrated differently.

My car is 1994 GTS and the speedo came from a 1997 GTS - well from what I got told. So there is no boost gauge under the tacho, its just peculiar that its exactly double the actual speed. Any idea's what I could have missed? Or is this common as I couldn't find any information on it.

Just trying to figure out why its different. I have 2 very good pictures or a cluster from a series 1 and then a series 2 on the printed circut and there are no differences at all.

So your car is a r33 GTS manual S1 and you have a cluster for a r33 GTS S2 manual? You must make sure the new custer is also a manual cluster

In all honesty I'm not sure if it came from a manual (I've sent an email to the seller). I can post a picture of the back and the front of the cluster. You will have to excuse my ignorance, but do auto skylines also have a tacho?

yes they do. It looks the same but with a P, R , N, D etc etc posted inbetween the speedo and tacho in a vertical position. It would be easy to tell if its an auto or manual cluster, post a picture.

The reason i am asking is because the clusters from manual and auto skylines are set differently because the auto and manual gear ratios being different. Thats why would think its going much faster

I have attached a picture of the cluster. I have noticed one thing though, since my series one does not have a airbag, the airbag light is constantly on, not a huge problem but annoying none the less. post-59076-0-76756600-1322480403_thumb.jpg

i dont know if you noticed but the RPM guage is missing 500RPM till redline? is should be redline at 7000rpm

P.S. Its a r33 GTS cluster for a series 2 manual which would be fine if it was not ment for a RB20E

Wow I never even noticed that yet the RPM guage works perfectly. So what your saying is it came off a HR33 GTS? I always though the R33 with the RB20 was not eligible for import and this was an Australian seller, so that never even crossed my mind. So if its for an RB20E is there anyway to get it working with my RB25DE?

    • Absolute f*cking nightmare. I had to take breaks constantly, and I was always pissed off when I got home. The line split in Italy on day 2 (we drove from the Netherlands), lol. Driving any narrow European town was... well, sh*t.   Appreciate it man. Here, I'll just drop a favourite from the load I took on Saturday.   I'll update here when things happen with the car, the thing is, with stock power and almost everything chassis-wise taken care of, there really are no problems. 268,000kms now and counting.
    • Ah! I actually managed to snag a lightly used set.... that aren't so suitable for me right now. They don't work on a GTT without some cutting or creative heat moulding. I thought about reselling them myself cause I didn't want to murder them, but it looks like I'm probably going to attempt to murder them/melt them because I may as well. @GTSBoy @PranK can somebody close this thread?
    • Hey mate,  I have a set, one is slightly damaged but wont be noticable once installed.  Shoot me a message if your still after them
    • I couldn't wait But, the black constant tension hose clamps were too thick and there wasn't enough clearance at the T/B and I couldn't get it to seat properly, so I had use a silver one there I also added some 3" silicone over the alloy bit that goes through to hole on the radiator support as it looked like it was sitting on the edge of the hole in the radiator support, I never noticed a rattle or anything, but there was a witness mark It is basicly done, and I can live with the silver hose clamp at the T/B, I will get a black clamp for the head vent though where it is attached to the bulkhead fitting  It never stops...LOL, only issue now with the shock tower brace is it slightly touches the under bonnet liner now, if I leave it it will either wear some paint off the brace where it touches, or damage the liner, so I removed the liner to see what I have to work with, with the liner removed I have about 20mm of clearance, but sadly the middle part of the underside of the bonnet is only dusted with paint and looks crap, so I cannot have that, but.... as I have a roll of Carbuilders premium under bonnet insulation in the garage laying around that is only 5.5mm thick (we were going to use it on the boys Patrol, but he crashed the front of it a few months and it was written off, hence why he now drives my old Honda Accord Euro), I'll use the OEM liner as a template and get the Carbuilders stuff fitted up to cover that dusted paint up
