Hey all, I've been debating whether I should invest into a single piece tailshaft over my OEM, main reasons being I replaced my single pegger diff for an LSD, hoping that it wold solve the whine as well as all the benefits of a LSD, trouble is..I still have my whine so it's the tailshaft that was the problem all along ( I dont think an Auto gearbox whines????)

So it's down to either rebuilding mine, replacing mine with another or having a 1 piece tailshaft made up (I've been told they are quite easy to make and relatively cheap)

The car is a R31 Auto, stock everything except my diff. I get whine in 4th gear from ~55km/h - ~65km/h.

By the end of the year I hope to upgrade to a RB25DET 5-speed manual box so the tailshaft is really something I dont know what to do about right now. I'll have to get the yoke off the newer box and get it onto a R31 auto tailshaft (or put it on a single piece) when i do the conversion anyway.

Is there a place in Melb that can do a single piece that you guys can recommend? (preferably on the SE suburbs) or should i get a rebuilt and balanced 2 piece.

Tim.
