just need help with my ecu as the fuel pump wont prime or turn on, i've put a rb20 silvertop in my passage and at some time along the way i fry'd a (diode, resistor or cap not 100% sure) on the curcut board just before it leads to pin 18 at the plug, Now the ecu wont turn the fuel pump on, just need to find out what type and size it is so i can get my fuel pump to prime again and not run constant

any way here's a few pic's

you can see were i've takin the part out on the board part R313

ecu1.jpg

it look's the same as the blue components labeled a

the lil bugger that don't work no more

any help would be great i'm mainly after the size of it

its a resistor fo shiz. is there not any writing on the device? or has it all been fried beyond recognition?

thought so but does'nt hert to ask, it's been fried beyond recognition, the size is the main thing i'm after

your best bet might be to wait until someone can give you a definite answer, but i dont think many people will be willing to take their ecu apart. honestly id take a bit of a stab at it. if all the other similar-looking resistors all have the same resistance value, i'd go ahead and chuck one in.

i dont know much about resistor wattage interchangeability, but in theory, one could place a higher wattage resistor in the circuit without causing an issue... hopefully :ermm:

thats what i'm hoping for, its only 4 srcew's and if someone has one out of a car it should be no big issue to just have a look.

there all different resistance but i think it is i higher on around the 400-500 ohm's my guess is, it's a 2w resistor but i can only get 5w which should be no problem as the only diff is that it can take more heat and current, i've poped down to jaycar and got a few diff size's all ready, just hoping i can that actual resistance before i wack one in there.

cheers dude pm sent and yer its a 32 engine

I am guessing that the original R31 ECU fuel pump wire was directly connected to the R32 pin 18 which caused it to blow? If so I gather you have now added a relay and have wired pin 18 to the switch the relay on/off. If you haven't you will need to add a relay.

Cheers

i've got a 040 pump so i all ready had a relay, i ither put the battery on backwards or crossed the wire's the wrong way out the relay caused it to blow. I now have to find that resistor size to replace it
  • 1 month later...

sorry for the late update but big thanks to BOOZTJUNKEY for giving me the size of the resistor (5.1 ohms) as it done the trick with my ecu and now works properly again

here's a pic of the final job

    • looking for some help and maybe some insight on others experience with a new LSD. R34 GT ran and drove beautifully, but always alot of grip loss due to the open R200 rear end, so I just installed a new 1.5 LSD way into the stock open R200 for a ER34. Simple. Everything seemed right. I test drove for the first time this weekend. as I started to back out the garage the first time slowly with tires straight it sounded and felt like I had a loose or half disconnected drive shaft...that was clucking around loose and shaking entire vehicle, and making it feel like the trans clutch was spontaneously slipping then grabbing very roughly while just letting out pedal slowly. I backed it out went to pull forward with the same noise, shake and slip grab feeling with hesitation, I turned the tires to back out more and then pulled ahead some same thing but worst because of added wheel resistance (which that I expected) puzzled … pulling it back in checking everything over and finding nothing wrong, I tried it the next day. same thing, couldn’t believe how it shook everything again making a terrible noise and making it feel like the trans clutch was slipping and grabbing, but I got it out of garage into the driveway, got it straight, drove forward and then reveres a few times in a straight line everything shaking , causing what felt like clutch slip and grab every time, sounded like right behind front driver tire and I could feel it in the floor board with my feet,... worst right when beginning to let clutch pedal out to engage slightly, shuttering and sounding terrible along the way…I managed to slowly get down the road, babying it the whole way, once I was rolling (out of 1st) seemed to be better and between shifts, then clutch felt closer to normal…not slip/ grab etc., but back down to any stop, straight road or turning, same thing. Made no difference if all tires were straight or if I was turning. All other gauge read out correct. with in 2 miles as planned I reached the empty parking lot and performed the break in procedure that came with lsd, essentially to drive in a figure 8 a bunch.  Did this, binding chattering, and shaking the car the whole way. I drove it back home seemed somewhat normal once I was in straight line and past 10 mph or so, and I know it will “bind” on corners and cause some tires squeal when turning especially from a stop, but when I begin to move it still causes what feels like the trans clutch to slip and jerk badly as well as shaking the entire car, and sounds terrible, that I didn’t expect. I used the fluid they supplied with LSD kit and did the breaking, planning to change fluid as they suggest after breaking, but wondering will it get smoother or less aggressive with use? maybe a 1.5 is just too aggressive for normal road driving?   I have a LSD that I put in my 71 cuda when I restored it, with amazing smooth , quite yet effective results. Different style LSD but that ones a joy to drive. maybe expecting too much from this R200?

    • Hello!  i just finished manual swaping my r34 skyline with a r33 rb20de box(RB71C)box  When the car is running it squeaks crazy loud and it was smoking from the gearbox area. The gearbox is fine it was tested. The clutch slave cylinder seems like it doesn't fully releases the clutch. I want to ask if this noise is from the throw out bearing or could it be the clutch assembly or disk att.xFliq87Gzw6kImKBVqDebXkj0fBqymk0JaYeP3_3SlM.mp4
