Just A Question Regarding Alarms And Sound System.

Recommended Posts

Hi this might be a dum question but i've searched the forum and cannot find a definite answer. I just recently purchased a R34 GTT and the car being so old needs a new alarm, got a full sound system and an alarm as a gift but its purchased in my home country and not in aus so would i still be able to find a licensed installer to install the alarm? Its a viper so i'm not sure if anyone will do it as its not purchased in melb. Thanks in advance for all the help.

Tintacar sell viper alarm systems so they might install it, plus any electrician should do the job quiestion is does ur new head unit pick up our aus fm am radio signals because I thought overseas don't

Depending on the model, the alarm might not be ADR approved or whatever the legal business is.

Therefore meaning it is useless and will not count for insurance.

Insurance will be near on impossible without one due to costs, so get that looked into first would be a good starting point

The headunit will pick up aus radio channels, thankfully they are the same frequency was afraid of that too...

Erm my friend has 1 and its insured. Is insuring the car different for third party and full comp?? Or do they require the same features on an alarm to be ADR compliant? If so, is there a list that tells me what i need? My friend got his from autobarn tho..so should it be okay?

check model number with insurance they should tell you if it aus approved because u can buy models over seas if it same over here and aus approved the model

Edit: also can ask tintacar because they sell viper systems and should tell you if ADR aproved also.

Thanks for the info will do it when i'm back on monday, would there be any complications if any electrician were to do the job or does it have to be a authorised installer? Thanks for all the help, will check with insurance if its a model thats approved.

Just another question, is there any parts i should purchase and bring back which would be more cost efficient? Or does anyone need parts, will be coming back from malaysia and if its too big i can help you guys get it shipped over. Just trying to be helpfull, as i kinda find parts in aus really exp.

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
    • Also wanted to say, my new spark plugs are blackened looks like it's very rich. I have splitfire coilpacks but stock coilpack loom and ignitor. I tried directly grounding the ignitor ground to body as well.
