Yo Chookie chicken, you keen for pies on the weekend? We may need to scout this 21st cruise route as people are concerned about the ferry so i am thinking we repicate the run and see for ourslelves before i post up all of the details in a thread.... Let me know if your keen? I dont wanna post it up without knowing what its like!

See that truck thing coming up Wednesday on One HD? Looks alright!

No but I'll check it out

On a different topic I dropped the truck off to get some work done under warranty. Mainly a new headgasket as the bolts have streched and it leaking coolant

I ask the service person if they got new headstuds for the job and they say no we will use the old ones they should be alright

I thought all headbolts were a single use thing these days so will see what happens

Looks interesting! I like seeing shit built :D

I would be replacing the head studs if it was my car but depending on what the workshop manual says on those things will determine what is replaced under warranty as its all by the book!

But seriously IF the leak is due to bolts stretching why the f**k would you re-use them? lol

Wow, thats been a while man! I would PM one and ask if everything is OK?

I am sure mine went through pretty quickly.... Its copped a hiding today :woot: Pic dump followed by chat......

Its odd that you've had no reply, the guys are normally pretty good.......

Ash is up to his eyeballs in SAU Nats so not sure how you will go there, although he is generally awesome too :D

Oh and the job on the truck turned to shit as well

I wanted to get it done in a weeks time when I'm on holidays so if anything went wrong it wasn't a problem but for whatever reason the boss wanted it done today and pick it up tomorrow

I get a phone call that it won't be ready till Friday and the boss hits the roof, en result was it got put back together before the head came off and will be done when I'm on holiday

Is everyone's car under cover

Looking nasty weather wise

Yeah, it's been under cover for too long :/

You should see the pics Sean posted up in the members thread!! Snow/hail

Damn

Where's he at?

Oh and I would come with you guys on Sunday but unfortunately I'll be outside fishing

On a unrelated note I went to the BP near work this arvo for fuel and the young bloke behind the counter says

"I was wondering who owns that car. I've seen it in the car park and a mate of mine owns 33"

Was a bit surprised as I don't think the car gets noticed that much

Anyone think the below is too much stretch? Looking at the same tyres as the wheels on the left, which are the same width as mine...

Thoughts?

    • I'm normally copping my own abuse from neglecting my daily drivers. "Those suspension bushes will last a bit more", "Don't worry about the oil leak, just keep topping it up". The project cars I'm always doing things slowly on them as I'm wanting them to be done better, and neater, and nicer. Luckily I don't have to deal with 18 year old Matt's "Learning to wire" stuff in the project cars. And there's only one piece of wiring I'm displeased about in the Landcruiser, and it's about to be cut out... However, the box loads of parts that have been going through this place lately for the Landcruiser... Brake pads Brake Rotors Full handbrake overhaul Wheel Bearings Seals Swivel hubs Steering Boxes Half the suspension joints Shocks Air bags (Ones to go in the rear springs for towing) Water pump Timing kit Lower timing case Harmonic Balancer Radiator Lots of other little seals and shits Gas struts for the bonnet New power window switches And god knows what else I've forgotten... Ha ha ha I have my fingers crossed the pinion seals don't start leaking on the diffs, that the transfer case doesn't leak, and the gearbox input shaft doesn't leak, nor the rear main seal. As they're about the only seals I haven't replaced in the driveline! I'm seriously eyeing off buying new caliper rebuild kits front and rear brake calipers... I'll probably recheck all the valve clearances soon too, and hopefully, it should be all good and sweet to haul some long distance trips again!
    • Every time I pull my 3x gauges out of the console and see the crack-addict way that I did the wiring, and I just can't bring myself to tear it all apart and "make it nice", because it is currently working. In fact, the last time I was in there I probably made it worse.
    • The best part is when you own the car long enough that you look back and find your OWN ham fisted amateur shit!
    • The annoying part about neglect, is when you start to replace one thing, and find ten more broken things. Ham fisted monkey repairs you normally only find out about when trying to do something unrelated! Ha ha   Neglect you can kind of anticipate the huge costs to fix it all. Ham fistedness is normally a shock the first time your work on a new old car, as everything "looked" good before.
