hi guys

i know the bosch fuel pumps are great like 910, 040, 044 being more expensve in that order etc

but does anyone have any experience with their fuel regs? they are rising rate like the malpassi ones you can buy, and i know the SARD fuel regs are even better, but how about the bosch ones?

i saw on a site the following 2 are available:

Rising Rate Regulator, EFI Push On, 1:1 $ 149.00

Rising Rate Regulator, EFI High Rate, 1:1.8 $ 165.00

im sure people can get better prices than those, but even those prices arent that bad.

i will be getting a BOSCH 040 pump, and theres a thread going on at the S.A forums part that people can get these intank pumps for $240! so thats real good.

any help would be greatly appreciated!

I'm a little confused about the whole aftermarket regulator thing?

I understand that it is a bit of a band aid option for those not willing to go as far as injectors, many people seem to be getting a 2530, larger pump and a fuel reg.

Seeing as though I'm looking to get that setup and around 230-250rwkw, what regulator will be needed? e.g. rising rate?...

exactly what im look at getting at the wheels too, prob more on the 230rwkw though as my turbo is only hi-flowed /w bigger wheels from garett (kinda like t3/4 combo wheels) and turbo is now steel not ceramic

ive searched throughout the forums on this topic, and ive come up with the conclusion that although the fuel reg is a type of band aid option, its the only option in order to get some more out of your injectors if you dont have money to upgrade to larger ones. you would need the bigger pump to go with your reg though as they seem to go hand in hand.

i spoke with unigroup engineering who did the dyno on my car, they said if you can afford it, better to get bigger pump and injectors OR if cant afford that option then get bigger pump and fuel reg. in either case however, the bigger pump is a must.

    • Hope you aren't too sore after that one, might take a day or 2 to notice yet and I guess it is a loooooong drive home. On the bright side, tube frame front end is a thing at superlap, right?

    • The chart of front pressure to rear pressure (with one being on the x axis and the other being on the y axis) is not a straight line on a typical proportioning valve. At lower pressures there is a straight line with one slope, and at higher pressures that changes to a lower slope. That creates a bend in the line at that pressure, called the knee point. If you do not change the proportionng as the pressure gets higher, you will suffer excessive pressure (at one end of the car or the other, depending on which way you look at the proportioning action) and then get lockups at that end. The HFM BM57, from my memory of previous discussions, is based on the BM57 from a different car (to a Skyline), with a different requirement for the location of the knee point and the distribution of pressure front to rear, and so is not a good choice for an upgrade on a Skyline. Here's a couple of links to some old posts, one from here, one from elsewhere. A lot of it pertains to adjustable prop valves, but the idea is the same. There are plenty of discussions on here about this issue from al the many years of people wanting a cheap/accessible option. https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/ https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/learn-me-brake-proportioning-valves/236880/page1/
    • Yeah dunno why johhny posted that here with no context, just post on FB/insta bro where he put it up?  Laine had an off at T4 during Thurs prac, he's ok, car is less than perfect, they are done for the weekend, he can fill in the rest. Bando also binned it like 100m up the road.
