Hi guys,

need some advice. Im 99% sure these will fit on my car. v36 coupe SP (akebono brakes).. Check ebay link:

http://www.ebay.com....19d447e18b#shId

I wanted to double check before i commited to the purchase so i emailed the seller..

This was the response:

"We dont have anything for the V36 skyline, if the 370z rotors fitted, the RDA catalog would have also specified the V36."

What do you think? So far any brake places ive spoken to dont know jack about the v seriers skylines and im starting to think these guys are the same..

cheers

Tom

thanks clearing that up Ross. I thought ALL 370z's had the big brake setup the same as S and SP v36's?? It seems maybe not the case. According to this ad some 370z's came with a "standard" brake package which these rotors are intended for... I think they might have put 370z on the ad by accident and its meant to be 350z.. I googled the part number and it comes up with 350z/murano...

Sean thanks for the 2c. Not the advice i was after though.. Im not looking at doing bathurst anytime soon. I just want to replace my OEM rotors with same or slightly better without getting raped by the 5 million % markup that perth businesses like to add on. Im open to suggestions if you have any.

there not a no name brand... but they dont fit anyway so forget it..

Do you think Nissan make there own rotors? I doubt it.. If you have OEM rotors is you life at risk because they are a no name brand? Give me something useful or save yourself the effort.

If your V36 is a USDM 2009+ model equivalent, then I recommend the DBA 4000T3 series. They have the 42314S (front) and 42315S (rear) which are a very nice slotted disc and no, you won't get raped if you find yourself a reputable parts supplier. These are listed for the "Infiniti G37 Sport Package (355mm front)" in DBA's international catalogue but they are available locally from DBA so your supplier can definitely order them in. After all, they're all made in Australia before they get shipped to the US anyway! :)

These are the identical discs listed for the 370Z with Brembo brakes.

They measure in at:

---------- Diameter - Height - Thickness

42314 - 354.6 - 49.5 - 32

42315 - 350 - 62 - 20

Do your homework on the dimensions though as I don't see any further data about them, regarding thicknesses, hub heights, etc. I got my V36 only in February this year and I haven't driven it since April so I haven't got access to my FSM from here to see what the Nissan specifications are.

And if anyone challenges what I'm saying about their availability, I'll personally kick their arse. I had a very short argument with my usual brakes supplier because he had a young punk who thought he knew everything and figured I couldn't be trusted. With so many idiot customers out there ruining it for the rest of us, I can't say I blame him entirely but he could've been a little more accommodating. Anyway, when I told him the part numbers, he insisted that I tell him what vehicle it was for. I told him, just to appease him but then he told me because it wasn't in his catalogue, he couldn't order them in. I told him to call DBA and ask them for the price and availability of them over the phone. He refused. I asked for his boss, explained to him what DBA told me when I checked with their sales department directly and all was sorted with an apology.

Yeah thanks for that. I know what you mean, most suppliers cant be stuffed doing there homework about different models. Unless its a Crappadore, forget about it..

Its funny you mention the DBA 4000's they were my next pick.. Ive seen a lot of good reviews on them and they actually come up cheaper then buying stock rotors from nissan.

I rate the DBA 4000 discs wholeheartedly. I had them on my Maxima with a set of EBC RedStuff pads and they were fantastic. I even have them on my BA Falcon wagon, though it only gets the Bendix Ultimate pads.

The DBA and EBC RedStuff take my abuse very well, unlike my previous combination of DBA 4000 and EBC GreenStuff. That resulted in the pads only lasting me about 13000km and warping the front discs from overheating. :P

Yes, I am a spirited driver. Once my pads and discs need replacing in my V, I'll be whacking in EBC RedStuff and DBA4000 discs in, for sure.

As it is the 2008 G37 equivalent, it will use the same discs according to the DBA catalogue (it says 2008+). Again, I would advise you look up your FSM though to be sure the dimensions are the same.

    • Bit difficult to follow. Have a look below and see what the standard R32 layout was like. Note there was a restrictor in place immediately before "turbocharged pressure control solenoid" that, if removed, magically got you 1 bar boost.
    • I might be way off the mark here.. there must be a T junction under the manifold. That takes manifold pressure through a check valve prior to the T, one side splits out to this bleed off orifice, the other straight to the wastegate actuators.
    • Carrying out some engine due diligence before my first drive in a 260RS that has been in storage for 10+ years, and found two lines that are susposed to be plumbed into the boost control solenoid. One of the lines (the wastegate boost supply line) to actuate the gates, had a bolt in one end blocking it. The other line (main boost signal line) from the very rear of the intake manifold (RB26DETT) and runs up to the boost controller had this pill in the end of it as seen in photos. Other than the obvious (T28 Ceramic turbos might well be cooked)  Can anyone shed any light on if there is any validity at all with this mod, bleeding a constant fixed rate of manifold boost pressure off through this 3mm hole?  Is it deliberate?  Was this a 90s Jap mod done to RB26's? Or has someone just fitted this without any idea of what happens to ceramic T28s if they are not gate controlled?
    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
