It won't be backfire mate, your injectors cut out on decel. You might get the occasional backfire when coming off throttle, but it shouldn't backfire on decel. Sounds like the usual popping associated with big exhausts.

i do have a pretty large rear muffler, might be that i guess?

What exhaust have you got, 3"? Most 3" exhausts will do it to some degree.

Is it worth getting? ( is there really any alternatives..)

It does it's job really really well, but it depends what you want to use it for.
