Hi All,

I have a R33 GTST and i am looking to buy a bigger Turbo but need help decidiny what to get, i dont really want anything that will need a external wastegate or new injectors.

the mods i have r

3.5" Exhaust

Hybrid FMIC

Apexi Power FC

Air Filter

Fuel Cut Defender

i was looking at the Hybrid T3/T4, but would really love something bigger that wont max out my injectors.

if you can let me know what turbo, specs, price range and amount of boost i can run with the above mods, that would be great.

thanks guys

Craig

yea thats all god guys and id love to spend that much and i could but, i have been told if i put a T04 turbo on my injectors will MAX out at around 10 PSI, and i dont really want to get injectors, im after something like a T04 , nothing too big, or even a ball beariong T03/04.

i could spend more but i just want to spend a little for now, while i have heaps of other things on,

Would a T04 max out my injectors? i would like to run about 14 - 20 PSI ( in that range)

I was told I can put a 2535 without upgrading my injectors, someone here in the forum has done it and his injector duty is only about 85-90% from max. Not sure how much boost he runs (maybe 0.9 bar). But even a small 2535 has boost efficiency above 1 bar (14psi). Can't remember how much, perhaps 1.2 to 1.5bar.

Just get a good fuel pump, like a GTR one (cheap 2nd hand) or a new Bosch 040 if you can't be bothered to get 2nd hand parts.

I know you dont want to hear it, but even getting everything 2nd hand will come to more than $1,300. doing the turbo thing isnt cheap! when i did mine, like you i didnt want to spend much at all, but it just isnt possible. getting a small turbo (2530) needed the fuel pump and regulator to be changed, not to mention small things we all like to forget when performing this upgrade, like oil and water fittings for the turbo, intercooler pipe modification exhaust/dump mods, the list goes on.

i thought after i spent $1500 on my turbo that there wouldnt be much more to spend on the transplant - $500 in fittings and line - $300 for a reg - $400 for a pump $200 cooler pipes. it ends up getting pricey regardless of whether you go new or 2nd hand.

Maybe put the money away and save a little more so you can do it right the first time, it gets even more expensive when you have further plans down the track...

good luck with what ever decision you make!

I'm a bit confused :D

Do you just want a bigger turbo cause it's bigger, or do you want more power so your car's quicker?

Have you thought about what power goal your aiming for?

Once you workout what power you want, then you can look at what you need to do to get you there. Remeber that power isn't everything, sometimes the money is better spent on a good alignment and good tyres etc...

Just something to think about cause I think $1300 is going to fall short for a turbo upgrade.

J

BTW: A TO4 turbo won't be a bolt up turbo, so your looking at a different exhaust manifold and dump pipe, not to mention different oil and water lines :P

robos - no, no and yes

the only thing that bolt straight up are the manifold flange, exaust and intake pipe.

i had to get fittings for all water pipes, oil lines and intercooler pipe. so it ends up costing a fair bit

eav00l: Quote "if theree are anymore suggestions please let me know" Bendigo bank have some good interest rates if you deposit over $1000 get it in there and start saving :P

When I bought my car it came with a CGC stage2 450HP upgrade allready done to it, it's probly your best option as everything will bolt straight back up perfectly. I'm not exactly sure if my car has standard injectors or fuel pump and I cant check as it's getting work done to it and not in my garage, but I've seen the turbo pump out 16 pounds with no problems at all and comes on boost strong at 3,400 rpm and really throws you back, enough to spin the wheels in the first few gears without droping the clutch.

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
