not too much, it does seem to sit a bit flatter when taking corners at normal speed, but I don't feel like I can push it through corners faster than before.

I was a bit worried about the comfort level as I have the revised rear 350Z springs which have a higher spring rate than the standard V. but I can't really notice it..

I am fairly happy with how it looks.. I didn't really like the look of the front with the stock springs, especially with the smaller front tyres..

If I had a square that size, I could do some comparisons. Although my rears are aligned to spec, and the fronts don't seem to be that bad on mine..

Do you know how much camber that is on yours?

rear is -3.5* naturally. front is about -1.5*

front look almost uncambered in comparison, if i bought camber arms for the front to make it -3.5* all round, i'd need to space my front wheels out 15mm to correct the guard flushness

if i went another inch lower, the rears will be -4.5* due to IRS, front will stay about the same

Thanks.

Still trying to work out the differences between the 350z suspension and the V35 sedan suspension.. if it is just the springs and shocks, it doesn't explain why the camber on a stock 350z is fine, but fitting the 350z springs in a V35 causes camber issues?? especially since there is no camber adjustment on the front.. Everything I read says everything else is the same.. just trying to get my head around it..

the 350z springs and shocks are shorter than v35 units, you are lowering the v35 by fitting the 350z items. when you lower the V35 the rear camber increases much more than the front just by design

sure, but the rear has camber adjustment from factory, they aligner was able to get mine in spec with 350z springs, but the front only has toe.. so why does the 350z front have -0.3deg camber and a v35 with 350z springs have closer to -1.5deg? something has to be different? or am I missing something really obvious?

Yeah, but if everything else is the same, why would those angles be different between a stock 350z and a V35 with 350z springs?

If you put V35 sedan springs in a 350z, do you end up with a + camber? And if so, why? What else is different?

the main difference is the height of the top tower mount. the 350z body has a lower profile, so they made the tower mount lower, which required shorter suspension.

this is difficult to explain....

on the front wheels, the camber changes because the hub follows geometry based around its "king pin inclination", which is the position of the upper and lower pivot points of the hub. the top pivot point is always positioned further into the car. as a result, the upper arm is usually shorter. the difference in length between the upper and lower arm means that both have a different rotational radius which creates a slight amount of camber as the arms compress upwards. The other factor is the upper and lower arm angle. these arms are never designed to be parallel, so each arm is in a different stage of its rotational length....

if the arms were equal length and parallel, the wheel would always have the same camber. this is no good for cornering.

the difference between the front and rear suspension is that the front has 2 vertical pivot points, where as the rear has only one. with one pivot point, the rear's camber increases dramatically. with 2 pivot points on the front, the suspension stays more square

the arms are designed to be a certain angle at standard height, the correct angle of the arm on both cars has a different distance to the top tower mount, hence the longer strut/spring in the v35

its kinda hard to describe without drawing pictures

I understand that.. but if you fit 350z springs and shocks in a V35, and there are no other suspension differences.. therefore a stock 350z, and V35 with 350z springs should have all suspension arms at the same angle.. so why is the camber different between the 2 vehicles when there is no camber adjustment? there must be some other differences with the suspenion.. the weight difference between the 2 is quite small, so I doubt that is causing it.

the other thing is: even though the suspension parts are the same, the bodies are not. the obvious difference is the height of the strut tower, but then the body mounting points for the suspension arms could be slightly different too...

Thanks for the info.. it was quite good.

I think I understand.. correct me if I am wrong..

because the 350z has a different strut mount height in relation the suspension, the 350Z suspension arms with stock 350z springs sit at approximatly the same angle as the suspension arms in a V35 with stock V35 springs?

so a V35 with 350Z springs has the arms at different angles when compared to a stock 350z?

Meaning the subframe is actually closer to the road on a V35 with 350z springs than it is on a stock 350z?

i can only say : in theory that is correct. i have not physically measured a 350z...

the only other difference i can think of is the body mounting points. every part is designed to work at certain angles on a particular car, and a 350z is not a v35. each model may have body mount differences to encourage different suspension geometry... they can dial in different rates by changing mounting points. even moving the tower top closer to the centre of the car changes things such as spring rates...

you cant just throw together good suspension, it involves hundreds of calculations and variables. and changing just one point can affect many other things. even widening your wheel track affects the suspension rate marginally

considering that all mechanical parts except shocks and springs are identical, you would have to measure the difference between the wheel mounting faces, the tower tops, the arm's body mounting points (width and height) to see if there are any that dont match.

its seriously complex.

When i put my new 350z springs + shocks in soon, my main concern is the side skirts on the Coupe sits very low as it is with standard suspension.

With these lower springs i hope i don't wedge my car on a speed hump is all lol

    • Initially I thought having a pair of Recaro seats would be a big bonus, it turns out these do get a little uncomfortable on long journeys (my fault, not the seat). I had a look through the GSM Performance website at reclining seats and booked an appointment to visit their show room. I got the Recaro Sportster CS for the R34 from here, was very happy with the service received so of course a re-visit was in order. Unfortunately the two Corbeau seats I had chosen aren't on display but they had 4 other options available. Two seats dug into my back, one dug into my legs and the other was perfect. I also found out that Recaro seats use a larger bolt pattern so some adaption was required. Luckily GSM offer some universal adaptors that should solve this problem. I searched the interwebs for price comparisons and Corbeau themselves were the cheapest at £300 cheaper (for the pair). I asked GSM if they could price match, unfortunately they couldn't. I later received an email saying Corbeau would honour them the same discount, but the purchase was already made. I did however order the brackets from GSM, both arrived on the same day. I started with the passenger side seat, knowing this was going to be a little trial and error. There are 3 mounting holes at the front and 2 at the rear on these JURAN Racing seat rails.  With the adaptor brackets mounted, the allen cap bolts started to push into the seat, NOT GOOD!  The rear mounting holes lined up but there were issues at the front. The holes were 1/2 hole out, so the brackets got a tickle with the drill to modify the holes. The supplied bolts weren't going to be long enough and a spacer was needed to stop the adaptor bars from bending. A local fasteners company supplied be with some nylon spacers and longer bolts (M8x30, although these will be replaced with 35mm long shortly) A before and after I pre-drilled the front bracket before making a start on the driver's seat to save some time. And in no time at all that was in the car too. The all black seats have transformed the interior and these are MUCH more comfortable. The only downside with the new Corbeau seats is I sit a little higher, but I'll happily accept that over discomfort. The Youtube video can be found here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPyttKPktXA
    • All 3 I guess. The car came with the JASI Aero 4 door Type R Full Kit unpainted so this was one thing at the top of my list to complete then I noticed there were body panels parts for this kit so i picked them up along with some black mesh to fill in the front bumper and front side air vents. car is at a paint and body shop atm completing this work. Next I will be addressing the internal bells and whistles, great summer project I can do with the kids.  full interior removal - ,boys car sound deadening - pads and spray ,boys stereo, sound, lighting - Big 3, GTT or bigger alternator ,kids head lining - dye black add star lighting mod ,daughter. That's it for the next 5-6 months. I have some motor maintenance  work i have to plan out. oil filter relocation, gaskets, mounts. beyond that, mind is starting to turn over if i can use a DET intake plenum, block off turbo ports & pipe in a air intake.
    • roller coaster of a ride. Alarm system was removed & main harness was repaired where possible. still no fix just random successful starts. moved on to the replacing the ignition switch and relay. well all this troubleshooting & repair has been going on, the car is at a paint and body shop being pushed around. Ive been going down there on odd days after work to get it sorted.
