Swirls in paint after complete respray!?!?

It's a bit of a strange question.

Recently I had my entire car resprayed and I was a little suprised upon receiving it back that there would be swirl marks through out the paint. The colour is black and it has actually been resprayed.

My question to everyone is is this common?

So it isn't uncommon for there to be the need for the use of a swirl remover product after a full respray. That is good to hear.

Is it possible/expected to finish with a mirror finish?

The finish should be perfect no swirls no bullshit. Depends how heavy the swirls are but they usually at panel shops give them a polish/buff after everything is done obviously they don’t know how to use a rotational buffer. Go back to them and tell them what they can do?? Since it was meant to be a new coat of paint without any defects (swirls etc) in most cases they will have to respray.

Black is a hoe of a colour but it just takes time and a lot of work. Sound to me like they did a rush cut and polish. I recently rubbed my whole car back with wet and dry 2000 then fully refinished it. Took a whole day but the results were awesome. Take it back mate.

I certainly will. Fortunately the guy that runs the place where I had all this work done is a good guy, so it is pretty hassle free. Already have spoke to him.

oih if u dont mind me asking, how much did it set u bak?

Couldn't tell you an exact amount as it was on insurance claim. My car was keyed and as a result almost every panel had to be resprayed.

So as a favour because I was having other work done for when the car was broken in to in melb, they sprayed my front bar, roof and back.

Add to that all glass bar the front was removed for the respray.

So ball park, the insurance company probably took a hit of maybe 4k (?).
