hey skyliners

after a fun and solid 8,000kms of giving my GTR absolute death I have came across my first issue, seems like wiring or a sensor

its intermittent fault some times it runs fine some time I almost cant take off from the lights

it feel like the fuel is being completely cut ( may also be the whole ignition ) most the time it happens when starting off in 1st gear , but the old time is happens crusing at 80 \ 100kms, its only under vacuum it is fine when boosting. I have noticed the black rich stain on rear bumper I used to get has almost gone to me it saying Im running leaner??? its seem to idle fine when im experiencing this issue

I tested air flow meters ( when fault was occurring ) and they tested fine, tried to wiggle plug and wires going to afm to see if was that and still tested good, the single turbo was close to the loom and would of cooked the wiring but the plastic doesn't appear to be melted at all, - I put a turbo beanie on it which has helped a lot from keeping the heat to the wires going to afm etc tried a couple of different cas's and adjusting timing - + 5 degree but no difference , Inspect the 044 I put into the tank and its still solid in there and everything looks fine, I went over all the hose clamps I could see to check for air leaks but all appeared tight as can be, a couple of months ago I set tps to correct setting ( was way out) when to check ecu fault code and learnt the pfc doesn't have screw thingy and a led. I check fuel pressure and its good ( have checked when fault is occurring tho)

im getting my to4z and link ecu that sitting around in nz for my gtr over there and going to get it tuned with a map sensor and get cam gears adjusted in a couple of weeks.

I have been neglecting to drive it lately cause of concern its running lean! to me its an afm or fuel pump issue relay ( can a o44 run ok of standard wiring and relays, hidden vacuum leak, I think its odd how it idles ok and doesn't cut out under boost,

any suggestion would be greatly appreciated

    • Possibly avoid using a Cometic one unless the deck/head surface are perfectly flat. I did have a look just then and forgiving gaskets such as Tomei or Nitto don't exist for the FJ20, however the Bar-Tek or Kameari ones look good and might do the trick.
    • Because pipe threads for pipe things. M threads for bolt things. Throw some teflon sealant onto it and dust your hands off knowing you did the right thing, instead of going twice around the block to achieve a result using the wrong things. Of course, all of these solutions are ignoring the fact that the minimum thread pitch we're talking about here is 1.25mm, with the 1/4" in NPT or BPS being out around 1.4mm. You will need to know that the boss you're tapping has enough thickness for at least a few threads. That's one of the reasons that 1/8" is commonly used - because the pitch is <1mm. And why would you look to use 1/4" NPT in a BSP country anyway? Ugh.
    • Just throwing around ideas, does it need to be in the compressor cover? Why not the hot side piping?
    • 1/8NPT drill size = 8.7mm. Since the hole got messed up by me, it’s probably around 9mm.    So 1/4” NPT would be next step. A drill size of around 11mm would be preferred there which is not way of my M12 (drill 10.5mm and tap M12 threads)
