Bov Plumb Back Possible Upgrade On Stock Stag? (Kompact/gtr/gfb/forge/stock)

Recommended Posts

hey guys i recently bought a series 1 stagea and am absolutely wrapped...loved these cars since i first started seeing these being imported...

my car is running stock apart from exhaust... i don't want to rid of the air box and fit a pod as i do not want the attention for defects...

i have been looking at plumb back bov's online and spent most of the night reading up on how much people rant and rave about the atmospheric bov's and how against them people are.

i just wanted to ask if anyone is running something like the turbosmart kompact plumb back bov.... and if there is any throttle/boost performance change? and if there is any different spool or induction sound.

i don't want the super load pssst sound, maybe just a little better spooling sound and response without major mods.

i also read about putting in a GTR factory bov... does this make much of a difference performance or sound wise?

i haven't had a turbo in nearly 10 years i used to have a r32 gts-t and it had just the plumb back and you got a really nice swoosh sound that wasn't a ridiculously loud cop bait but sounded nice and didn't affect performance... yeah it did have a pod so i think that prob would be the difference.

i just noticed the boost isn't seeming to hold properly in 3rd or 4th...so i thought my bov is leaking or on the way out.

I know there is a shitload of posts regarding BOV's... but i thought i would ask stagea owners as the stagea although the same motor, its a different car to a typical skyline and i don't want to lose the style the car has by over the top flutters/swooshes.

Thanks you guys for any helpful input :)

I have a GTR bov for sale. They bolt straight up to the flange but the outlet pipe is a bigger diameter so you need to adapt them. The advantage is that it is a much more robust unit but I don't think it has any more exciting sound.
