Last night as i was driving home from work my r33 began to run wierd

First when i pushed the accelerator nothing would happen and it was very temporary and a second later of pushing harder it would be back to normal. This occured a few times and few of those times i shifted to a gear below and it went fine.

Then later it completely gave up and the engine pretty much turned off (lucky i was on the left lane and put hazards on). Restarted the car and again a few times seemed to struggle to accelerate but ended up going and i drove home with a few temporary loss of power.

This morning i drive into work and no issues at all.

Any ideas?

Was thinking coil packs? but no conisistant misfiring etc

Fuel? My exhuast does have a massive hole in the axleback if thats mucking around with AFR?

your exhaust wont be causing issues with your afr's. Get some CRC contact spray and afm spray. clean your plug and pins for the afm and clean inside the afm with the afm cleaner spray. Give that a shot first before anything

I think similar thing happen to me, it was the o2 sensor, because I bought an aftermarket o2 sensor without plug, so I had to join the wires up and I just taped it, and problems occurred. But it seems to be fine once I've soldered the wires.

So maybe check your o2 sensor?

sorry been a while as ive been busy with other things (r33 is barely driven)

Changed the spark plugs over the weekend. Didnt look too bad but prob was best to change them. Coil packs are confirmed to be spitfires and are in good visible condition. Did manage to snap a coilpack clip (still clipped in but will get a new coilpack harness to sort that).

Drove the car after - drove ok for 10 mins, then started spluttering and after a while pretty much lost all power. had to fight with it to and after a while able to run around 2000rpm. Took it back home, but when 2 min before i got home, it started driving normally.

Also the day before i changed the spark plugs i tried starting and it struggled first few times but started after a while.

My belief is fuel (though im barely an expert)

Theres fuel in the tank

Fuel filter was changed at last service (around 1500ks ago)

So if it is fuel my guess is the following

Fuel pump?

Fuel lines?

Fuel tank?

Injectors?

Any idea how to check/test them

or any other ideas on whats causing this?

seems like an intermittent problem, is the earth point from the battery on properly and is the point clean?

is the fuel pump earth hard wired?

if you can get your hands on a fuel pressure tester then having a look at that would be an ace idea. If its spluttering and you have good coils, good plugs n fuel, it may be fuel pump related but its hard to point at that (e-diagnosis)

hows the CAS set? it could be going into Rich n Retard.

Many factors

    • It is a kunfine Android screen . Does anyone know the wirering diagram of the fuga ??
    • just an update to this, poor man pays twice  Tried sanding down the pulleys but it didnt do the trick. Chucked another second hand alternator in the na car which I got for free off my mate and its fixed the squelling. Must have been unlucky with the bearings.    As for my turbo car, I managed to pick up a cwc rb alternator conversion bracket + LS alternator for 250 off marketplace, looked to be in really good nick. Installed it , started the car and its not charging the battery.... ( Im not good with auto elec stuff so im not sure if this was all I needed to do but I verified such by using a multimeter on the battery when the engine was running and I was only getting 12.2v )   I had to modify the earth strap for the new LS alternator , factory earth strap was a 10mm bolt which did not fit the bolt on the LS alternator which was double the size so I cut it off , went to repco bought some ring terminals that fit, crimped it onto the old earth strap and bolted it up to the alternator , started the car and same issue. Ran like shit and was reading 12.2 at the battery.  For a "plug and play" advertised kit thats not very plug and play but alas.  My question is , am I missing something ? Ive been reading that some people recommend upgrading the stock 80 amp alternator fuse to a 140 amp but I dont see how that would stop the alternator charging especially at idle not under load.  Regardless ive pulled it out and am going to get it bench tested by an auto elec tomorrow but it would be handy to know if ive missed something silly or have done something wrong.
    • My wild guess is that you have popped off an intake pipe....check all of the hoses between the turbo and the throttle for splits or loose clamps.
    • Awesome, thanks for sharing!
    • To provide more specific help, more information is needed. What Android screen? What is its wiring diagram? Does the car's wiring have power at any required BAT and ACC wires, and is the loom's earth good?
