Hi all,

Just doing my major service and have noticed that one bolt ( the 10mm locator ) on the new water pump doesn't line up. It's out by about 10mm leaving a gap of about 90mm between the bolts on each side of it.

I have spoken to Nissan and they only have the one part number for this item (2101-21u26 : same as the R31 and VL RB30) so insist I have the right one. Have also spoken to the boys at Just Jap and they know of this issue and recon I can just leave it off with no problems.

Now I do a few track days a year and would hate to think that the pump could blow the seal near this missing bolt and spray coolant onto the timing belt while at 200km/hr down the straight at Eastern Creek. The repercussions could be quite severe.

What should I do? Just fit it without the bolt and pray it doesn't let go? Maybe try to redrill a new hole in the pump casting?

Has anyone replaced the water pump themselves and what did you do about the misalligned bolt?

Please advise as the car is off the road until I can figure out what to do out this.

Z.
