Hey guys,

i recently bought a 1997 S2 R33 gtst,

I have changed the coil packs and the cleaned the AFM along with buying a new pod filter.

Had the Cam Belts re done etc etc and she was running amazing except for when i go to boost it feels as though the power isnt there..

I then went and changed the spark plugs to NGK etc.

Now when im reaching high rev's about to hit boost the car just jolts... this has never happened be4. started happening after i changed the spark plugs. (note i have not re-gaped the plugs or anything)

My first thought was that maybe its the fuel pump but honestly no idea.

does anyone have any idea what the issue maybe.

Thanks in advance.

1 other thought chap, did you install a boost controller? if you do, make sure it isnt set above 10-12 psi... if it is, just click it back a few.... you could be hitting the brick wall of boost cut.

Hey paul i dont have a boost controller atm. Plugs went back in tonight and she isn't jolting anymore although now it feels like she is cutting out while trying to boost almost as if it cant handle it. Any ideas? Im thinking ill have to send her down to the mechanics.

Cheers

if it is doing it at about 4500 rpm my man, its your coil packs. very common problem as with age they deteriorate.

find a spare set from some where and swap them out...

now bare in mind they are series dependant. s2 33 coils wont work on s1.

33 gtr coils will work on s1 but not s2. should be plenty around, if not check out amayama.com for a full set of replacement oem ones.

Thanks mate... changing the coil packs was the first thing i did when i bought the car... i have ordered spitfire coil packs which should arrive today or tomorrow so ill put them in and see how we go.. thanks for ur help.

righto!

if you have 12 coilpacks swap and change with them, find six that work. its a pain but always good to have em....

all good mate, do us a favour, WHEN you sort it, cos you will, pop back and give it an answer.

nothing worse than googling a problem, reading a thread, then finding out the OP didnt say what it was!

    • Crazy how good the aero bar looks compared to the stock one
    • Yes, but you will need to rewire all the things that are different. CAS, coils, etc. Yes, but there is no IAT. What? You can use anything you like. It just has to be hooked up so that it will work.     Or are you wanting to just plug and play without having to do any thinking/work?
    • It's been a little over a decade since I bought the S15. As I did on my socials, I'll share some of my favorite pictures from over the years further below. If you haven't realised, pretty much all the pictures in my posts are ones I've taken.  In terms of updates, I don't have pictures, but I acquired a near-perfect pair of fog lights from a friend of mine, so those got swapped in for the pair I already had. As for the JZX110, I just got it back from being fixed. A few weeks back, I was on the highway when I suddenly drove over something with very little time to react. It was probably the size of a soccer ball, but it went under the car and banged into the underside pretty loudly. I pulled over and realized the fluid leaking was fuel, and of course, it was right near my exhaust. This required replacing the fuel tank. If you happen to be in the same predicament, thankfully this car shares a fuel tank with the JZS171, IS200, and IS300, so it wasn't too painful to replace. Enjoy some pictures as mentioned above, including the carnage from the fuel tank and a bonus picture I came across which shows how ridiculously shiny the Bugels are on the 110. So many more pictures I could share of the S15 but this will do for today, enjoy.
    • Welcome.  Was the mistake the car, or joining us? 😏
    • Yeap, was me and the daughter getting coffee before heading to the new joint to measure up the fridge space and taking some pics that the solar installer wanted of the switch board
