Great to hear you got it sorted out; on your initial post you were totally spewin about it! (as you would) $390 is pretty good - post us some pics if you can!

Will do. Took some pics on the weekend, need to get the film developed (should have used a digital camera). Have them up asap.

I was pretty annoyed, its such mindless vandalism. $390 sounded like a lot, but when you see it, it makes so much of a difference. It'll add roughly that to the resale, so i'm looking at it as investment.

Thanks again mate

add to the resale? hmm somehow i dont think so..

but its good to here it came up better than before

Well if someone was looking at buying my car, they would have probably been detered by the massive key scratches all over it. It is worth less than the exact same car that isn't keyed. It doesn't look as nice, will cost money to fix and could rust easily.

Hence if its fixed, its worth more than a keyed car...

Thanks for the concern though :)

hiho,

not to perpetuate a myth that skylines are targets to be keyed, but i bought my car with a nice long key scratch across the drivers door. didnt really give a shit, since the price was nice, bought privately locally.

what does irritate me tho, i parked at a safeway near a mates house to get some stuff. came back, saw some shit box driven by a women (again no myths) backing up like **** from beside my car, nearly took me out at the same time.

thought it was odd, as there is no way she could have arrived after me, and got back to her car before me, as i was only buying smokes and some drinks. had a quick glance at my car, didnt see anything. next day, saw a huge ass vertical line, where she had obviously banged her door against my passenger side. been told it should buff out, as it is her paint, but havent got aroudn to it.

the worst event was, i rocked up to my mates house, parked outside his neighbours. 8->11pm; came back out found a broken egg resting on the bonnet. assumed it was my friends little brothers mates, as i had been rude to them earlier.

drove home, washed the car in the freezing cold at 12am. didnt drive the following day, then came the weekend, and i noticed some egg on the wing mirror. decided to give it a 2nd go sunday morning. thats when i noticed f'ing paint peeling up below the small window behind driver's door.

mentioned the sh't to my friend, and he told me after parking his sh'tbox out the front of his neighbour's house the previous 2 days, the guys son had threatened to slash his tyres if he did it gain. he moved his car, and i foolishly came along and took the space.

mentioned it to the cops a few days later, and they said unless i saw him do it, there was nothing they were prepared to do. even after mentioning his threats and antisocial attitude.

my friend didnt want to get involved since he had to live there, and if we keyd his car he would have ****ed up all our cars or beat the crap out of us. been told he is beefed up.

dropped by a local body shop to ask how much to fix, assumed they could touch it up. the guy wanted to strip the whole panel back to metal and respray. wanted liek $800 to do it. as you can guess i dropped the idea. has been suggested i would lose that money on resale, especially if it starts to rust. mind you its like a 1inch area. f'ck that.

i had gotten over this and forgotten about it until i read this thread.

    • From the factory on RB26s there's a fitting on the intake manifold collector/"plenum" that provides pre-throttle boost signal. That's how they did it back in the day, I figure it's fine to replicate it.
    • I would be surprised if that wasn't the issue. It's probably telling you, that even if you remove the plastic liner, you may have some other clearance issues that may occur too in some scenarios. IE, tyre to guard. It looks like someone has already rolled the lip, but you may still have issues in the future IE, turning and hitting a bump etc. The fact it changes how bad it makes the noise when you are going backward vs forward is highly indicative that it's the tyre rubbing. They do make a terrible sound, even if you're only pushing a project car that has a liner hanging down on a tyre!   Has the car been lowered? If it has been, what is the measurement from the centre of the wheel hub to the lip of the guard straight up?

    • Mark's a bit smarter than people give him credit... He'd convince the person that is to become dead, to drive him to the forest first. That way his car has no evidence in it, and he's free to dispose of their vehicle permanently how he sees fit too...
    • But if you had to go bury a body in the forest, would you not put that in the boot? Most of them are >=90kg these days.
