Some of you suck arse with your coments some times, do wotever you want to your car dude. As for instaling them tis easy and no better way to learn bout cars then to try for yourself. Took me pretty well a whole day and few beers later, mainly cause you gotta go round wheel arches and thread cable through chassis holes. Make sure you connection are well soldered and shrink wraped lots of volts with neons :D

ps been pulled by the cops twice and now have a warning bout them

heres my finished product

azron - just to confirm.... neons are LEGAL is they are not red white or flashing? (in victoria) vicroads actually said that?  thats the first time i have heard anything like that.  i thought they were illegal full stop.

It doesent matter what vicroads says coz if a cops stops you and see's em you will get defected depending how far the pole is up the cops ass at that time

All forward facing lights must be white, all rear must be red (minus the reverse lights and indicators). Under car neons are NOT illigal in victoria but I agree if you do get an asshole cop he'd probbaly try and defect you. That info was straight from a cops snout too.

hehe maybe ill write to vicroads, get written proof from vicroads that neons are legal (taking into acount all the regulations above), and then carry that proof with me, so if a cop trys to defect me.... bam.

that would probably piss the cop off more and he'll try real hard to get me on something else lol...

maybe not such a good idea

really now? So its entirely mr policemans call?.. bummer. So if you have a bad run with the cop he can defect you for nothing ?... i wonder if anybody has thought that they were been defected on inapproapriate grounds or something and taken it to court to get sorted?

dont know about other states but in vic bracks in his infatuate wisdom has made it so that 'in the opinion' of the cop they can defect you if they think something is unroadworth in ur car is 100% stock.

how much are neon kits btw? (not including installation) i know they come in different sizes etc but roughly how much....

I'm a fan of neons, but i wouldn't spend much money on them when i could be spending that money on something that improves the performance of my car...

Man daz unreal, I read that when you install the you should put silicone on the tips as so to prevent water getting into them and stuffing them up :drooling: OR the smart thing to do is buy water proof ones :flamer:

just get em installed properly. I got mine installed for 200 bux and there were a couple under the dash as well. If u get em installed then u most likely get a lifetime warranty on the installation. Neons look phat on the right ride and ppl will onli rag on ya cuz they got conflicting tastes. Plus chix dig it WIKKDLY cuz they like bright stuff. And if it came down to it, i'd rather get laid....

martydaman - had them on was in a country town bout 200 k's from adel

philmak - as for silicone never used had mine on yr and half no probs all work fine drive car daily in rain :D

krzysiu - i think stickers real or not down your doors and pictures of your car in every post is attention seeking but hey

what do you mean by 'has made it'? Did he actually change the law? Ive told this to friends and family and i keep getting pushed back with crap like " you should't believe everything you hear" and "You should be more skeptical"... and "how can that be possible?, this is a democratic society" so on and so forth. I

NSANT - i believe what your saying and i hope that i haven't written this in an offensive way because im not trying to be aggressive but do you have any more details on this bracks thing? I'd love to prove everybody wrong.

If you were gonna get it done professionally, it'd cost eleventy billion dollars...

hahahahah that made me laugh my head off

but seriously if u want neons... then go for it. any car stereo place will install them for you. just make sure they dont drill into ur spare tyre (yes it has happened to me)

    • Can't you put the pistons to TDC and then do the valve seals? Or will the drop down too far to pull them back up?
    • One thing I can tell you is, do it properly the first time. If you encounter unexpected problems just let the car sit for a week or two if you have to get some other parts or figure stuff out.  I'd have said go and use as many OEM parts as possible but since you want to change the turbo later on a custom kit is probably the better choice. Since I have no experience with RB25 just compare parts diagrams and images before buying a line kit and it should be easy to see if it has everything you need. Amayama has very good parts diagrams and part number lists, that is what I used a bunch to figure out what I might need. And don't forget to plan ahead and possibly renew other stuff that's easy to get to while you're in there doing the turbo lines. Happy wrenching
    • Update 4:   Hi all, good news. Engine is running and all the gaskets and seals seem to be working as intended. No leaks so far, even the JB Weld seems to hold. I flushed out the old coolant a few times and put in fresh coolant, not Nissan stuff, I decided to try the Ravenol Protect FL22, they claim it works for a wide variety of JDM cars and the opinions on it by some people were pretty good. And it has the nice poison green color! And man am I glad I bought a coolant system tester earlier this year, vacuum filling works wonders on this engine. I can definitely recommend this to anyone still doing it the old school way. All you need is compressed air supply. Will have to do a small test drive as soon as I can, I removed the gauge cluster again as the tacho needle was still bouncing around a bit but it was much better than before already.  I also found some cracks on all 4 tires inner and outer sidewalls. Apparently these tires should 't be parked on for extended periods or be kept under 0 degrees during storage, which I did not know. Clearly the previous owner didn't look into those details either, he probably bought them just cause they are cool semi-slicks. I'm just wondering how tf I am supposed to reach 30-80 degree tire temperatures on the public road consistenly, these tires were never going to work for my use case. I'll probably order Continental SportContact7 ones as these are the best allround summer tire available right now and I don't think I'll need anything crazier for now. Do let me know if you have experience with various tires and which ones you recommend.
    • You have no idea how many goddamn boxes I received these past three months haha Most have been put to use by now though, luckily
    • Not going to pretend I didn't do a bit of junky work this time around, but mostly due to the fact that some things I am not willing to spend days fixing right now, like wiring. I try to do most things properly the first time around.
