My mate was out test driving an R33 Series1 Skyline and giving a little bit to see how it went but when it got to 6grand the car cut out and the revs would drop untill he took his foot completely off the throttle and then back on again... It did this everytime, he left his foot on it one time and the car droped to about 3,500rpm and was still droping... The car was completely stock and just imported, it had bout 80,000km on it. Any idea whats causing this would be helpful.

the car would not have had much driving since delivered to aus and even then you wouldnt know how long it was just sitting in japan.

the element in the afm might be dirty

could be anything

but if he hasnt bought it tell him to just look for another, its not worth the trouble to buy a new used car and then have to fix it.......

well the standard vacume/boost gauge was at 7 but thats as far as the gauge went so it could of been running higher boost without showing it, however the car didnt feel very quick, i mean its the only skyline i been in but it was only about as quick as my commodore 5ltr which is all standard and i figure if boost was up a skyline should easily be quicker... but then im not in a possition to really know... he hasnt bought it and yeah he is looking for another... I just found it odd!

when u say the standard guage goes up to 7+ if this is true that is around 14 psi

the standard guage doesnt read in psi,if it is hitting 7+ your running a little too much boost and probably hitting boost or feul limit

does it have a boost controller?
