Hi All...

My coil packs seem to be getting worse, and I'm afraid I do not have the technical ability to silicon them up.

Splitfires seem to be the expensive option and I was just wondering if there is anything in between which will give me back my peak power...

Nengun seem to have the cheapest price for the Splitfires, but can someone give me the FINAL landed costs for these?

Cheers.

I reckon you could learn to mix two pack glue and apply for a lot less than the price of splitfires... Can you see them tracking in the dark? If not I would start by gapping your plugs. Even if your car has Jap heat range plugs will give drama's

We have on car with Splitfires one with OEM. For mine and anything less than a fire breather OEM.

TT

Yes they have gone up, I payed $710 plus postage of $60 (along with other parts) arrived one week later after payment.

I bought S2 coils for my S1 so I didnt have to use the igniter, coil loom had to be rewired.

Please please tell me was this a hard job? Please please tell me where I can get the opposite done in Sydney, I bought these damned Spitfire series 1 packs afer I found out my car is a series 1.5 (this means i need the series 2 coils), dont ask why I didnt research...Long story, Help!

Don't waste your time and money with buying 2nd hand stock nissan coils or gluing them up.

I had/have buggered coils so I bought 2 other 2nd hand 1's ($30ea) and it felt ok for a month or so. Then I araldited them all up ($10 and took me a week to do it coz it takes a solid 24hrs for each coil to dry) and they were good again for a month. Now they are up shit creek again so I bit the bullet and ordered some Splitfires from Nengun (about 3wks ago).

Still waiting for them to arrive (damn xmas/new years holidays) but it has cost me $615 delivered and atleast I know that when I fit them they will all be working 100%.

Edit: Be wary of Ebay (I know I know everybody says that) however I nearly lost $700 on there a few months back when I won an auction and the guy didnt have the item and didnt want to post them to me. Took me a month of heartache to get my money back.

Targa Tom is spot on.

Pull the black cover off, turn the lights off in your garage, the eyecrometer will tell you everything you need to know. I had the dreaded coil pack issues, turned out to be moisture. Spray them liberally with silicon spray every time you do the plugs. Leave the cover off to prevent them overheating. No troubles in the last 18 months.

Standard coils are good for big HP. Only a firebreather needs aftermarket coils.

    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
