Hey all!

Wondering if anyones knows about or has installed one of these Apexi ECVs to their car?

Heard that they will quieten your exhaust to a factory note and in turn lessen power by a simple control within your cabin when ever you want.

Main reason I thought of doing this is cause I have an auto and when I'm cruising round at low speeds there is a real bad droning sound! I'd adjust it to a quieter setting and re-adjust when I need the power.

What do you guys think?

Quite interesting

Saw a ferarri in a magazine ( standard factory) which has a similar setup but better - driving below 5000 rpm you have full exhaust system - above that gas gets by-passed and you just have an open system! What a sound.

Apex-i has a new muffler called "PS Revolution MUFFLER" that does that.

No need to add additional control. It just adjust the baffle when on low throttle and full throttle. I think it's pretty cool.

Anybody know where I can get one here in Australia? :(

A mate has one in his silvia, I don't think it makes much difference to the overall volume though from what he said ... but then again with the size of his muffler, his car is probably already quieter than standard!

look in the trev mags they used to sell like a y peice that vents to atmo by operating cable or through the mufflers

Pre-war Rileys had them, they were quite effective apparently

Another option is to get a quieter exhaust.

I have a real quiet trust cat back system which i want to get rid of for a louder one. Maybe we can do a swap.

If you want we can arrange to meet somewhere and you can see the noise difference

I like that PS Revolution muffler!

I really like the loud sound of mine, just cause I drive around for work and the droning gets a bit annoying sometimes. But otherwise the sound is great! can't get rid of it :)

Unless I put in one of those PS ones!!

i am the guy mr psiko is talking about who has one. it makes no discernable difference with the mammoth muffler on there atm. i will take the muffler off and have a drive with it closed and see if its much quieter but at idle and revving the engine without the muffler is pretty loud even with it closed.

cut a long story short, yes i have one but i dont know if it works :)

I have one, not the type with the flanges, but the 80mm weld in line type.

Huge difference, my car is just plain rude with it open, when shut it is quiet enough that it wont wake the neighbours.

Power is cut because of back pressure, I can only get 0.6bar with it shut.

Good investment if your car is loud. If it drones, probably more a case of exhaust design.

They sell them for $350 at D1 Garage in SA.

    • Yes, I know🙄 but the sequential is not in my budget... don't want to reduce power neither, so looks like I'm stuck in the rabbit hole🤣
    • You’ll be very upset when you bust that too not to mention the gearing totally sucks. Don’t do it.

    • So.... the K&N air box thingo was too big, ended up gifting it to a mate, well, by gifting it he actually supplied food and beer at the pub,  which was nice, as it will not sit on a shelf in the garage for the next 10 years I did trim up some of the existing stuff to neaten it all up and gave it some wrinkle paint, unfortunately it currently has a used and abused mish mash of different types of hose clamps, 4 big fat T bolt type (shit), and a few normal clamps of vairing sizes and brands, but..... only until the 6 constant tension black worm clamps that I ordered from EFI solutions turn up next week Currently the current hose clamps are triggering me hard, LOL Is this the final version, probably not, I really want just 2 silicone pieces, a straight bit of silicone from the filter to the MAF is easy and will happen as soon as I head into Just Jap tomorrow, the problematic part is a 30° silicone bend from the MAF to the TB that I can connect the engine breather from the head, I found that there are bulk head fittings for boat bilge pumps that should work, but until I can get a 30° silicone bend the alloy pipe, and the 11ty thousand hose clamps, are there for the foreseeable future 4 hose clamps are golden, 6 are grudgingly acceptable, the 8 currently holding it all together is just taking the piss    I've also ordered 60 more retaining wall blocks for the front yard, I mis-gonculated the height that was required to get above the base of the Photinia's (red robin's) that are the hedge behind the front fence, currently it is 2 blocks high, and about 1/2 a block short, so going 3 blocks high will be above the base of the red robin's, and allow some room for mulch
