i was just wonderign how much power the standard R34 GTT coils can handle as ive been told that i need to upgrade them cause thats what is causing the missfire when i rev the car out. im currently running 0.8bar max boost but the missfire still occurs at standard 0.4bar. on hi boost i have 195KW ATW. only mods are exhaust, filter and boost. has anyone else had this sort of problem with similar specs??? could the power have damaged the coils and should i upgrade or just replace whats damaged?? also if anyone knows where i can purchase splitfire coils at competitive prices if i need to upgrade as nissan one are 198 each i was told.

thanks for any input. greatly appreciated.

Your spark plugs are gapped to 1.1 mm standard and if you up the boost you need to gap them to 0.8mm.

That's you first port of call but your car could very easily have another 20-20-50k on it but has been wound back meaning that your coils may well need replacing.

There are a couple of threads on here about taping them up and arralditing them etc but it doesn't seem to work for everybody.

The coil pack tend to over heat cause of th enclosed area that they are in, I removed all the covers including the thin black piece that slides out after 2 of mine overheated. Plus it makes it easier to replace the sparkies.

But yeah your misfiring when the engine gets reved higher is the exact same problem I had a year ago. Hope everything works out for you.

if i tell my mechanic/performance shop to "gapp down my coils to 0.8" will they know what im on about?? also thanks for the healp guys. i'll try and sort it out asap. and let u know how its goes. thanks again for the input

Its your spark plugs you need to gap to 0.8mm (or buy pre-gapped coppers and just put them in yourself, will cost about $25 and 25mins of your time).

Gapping the plugs from 1.1mm down to 0.8mm is just a quickfix for coils that are on the way out. After that you tape them with electrical tape, then when that fails you can araldite them then all that is left is buying a $600+ set of Splitfires (which is what im waiting on delivery of).

    • Hi from Canada, Both of my calipers are starting to fail. My car is a 2005 M35 Stagea ARX and I can't seem to find any parts or any cross reference caliper that would fit my car. Is there a company or a similar caliper that would fit and I could replace the OEM one. Or if anyone knows where I can find a new OEM. Any help is very appreciated. Let me know!
    • Maf is a question mark but TPS  I have set at 0.47, the fact that I’m getting proper voltage range out of it with the key on leads me to believe it’s functioning properly. I’m getting proper voltages on basically everything. I still need to look up voltage ranges for z32 maf and test that
    • Honestly no not at all, but it’s a very basic tune, it’s stock injectors q45 tps and z32 maf. Other than that it’s a completely stock base map. The file is from nistune and from my understanding if it was tune related I would be able to unplug maf and tps and it would still start even if it was a really shitty start. I have tried starting it with coolant temp, maf, and tps unplugged none of those 3 togethor or individually changes anything

    • What does it look like with highway driving? And yes, I had a similar thought as Duncan. It looks quite similar in my Stagea and I have made myself accept it as normal. Might have to look into it some day   Highway gets as low as 10l/100km on my end so I'm not as worried about it being a mechanical issue. More likely just the tune on the haltech.
