hehe not me i think your talking about '4door sleeper'

what im going to do is call MV auto in adelaide, get them to send me out the necessary shift kit etc and then see if they can recommend somewhere local to install it for me.

from what i know they dont need to remove the autobox to install a shift kit, so all up including the shift kit it shouldnt cost more than about $450 (more if u want full synthetic fluid which ill be doing)

Ah sorry knore, me bad.

It seams there are a few ppl interested in this, it might be worth to try and organise a group buy?

I didn't know there was no need to get the box out to install the shift kit. What else would need to be done to freshen up the gearbox?

Ahh shit I forgot to send it... The plan was to wait till I got home rather than use the work email... I'll email myself a reminder and let you know either way...

FWIW I'd be keen on a group buy... I've been putting this off for ages...

Nedb: To install the shift kit, you only need to drop the pan... It's fairly fiddly if you only have wheel ramps - 100 times easier if you can get the car up on a hoist... Would probably be worth changing the filter while your in there... If you wanted to freshen the box up further, it would need to come out and be dissassembled. From there you could replace any clutch bands and check the rest of it out...

I've been in touch with Keas and I've asked about R33's as well. I'll keep this thread informed if you all like.

So far I can tell you that:

They are working on a shift kit at the moment.

It will be ready in about a month.

I think he said that R33 and R34 boxes are the same mechanically but I'm waiting on confirmation of that. It's a JATCO RE4R01A "and is OEM on any Mazda and Nissan RWD. A variant is also in Subaru's. It replaced the earlier model 3N71B and 4N71B JATCO in 1988 and ran until 2003."

I'm just confirming that he meant to write 1988 and not 1998 because my query was initially R34 related and 1998 is when R34's came out.

Cheers for the info Abo Bob... You seem to be one step ahead of us here so by all means, please keep us informed...

I can confirm that RE4R01A was made before 1998 as my 1993 R33 has a RE4R01A... It's listed on the build plate...

And yep they were in 300zx's, Pathfinders, 929's and a few others from memory...

Did they give you any indication on pricing?

Thinking out loud here...

I was abit sceptical that the RE4R01A came in the R32, as the hold / power / od features are different to the R33... But then I thought, if the same trans is in the R34's, which have the tiptronic control, then it's probably just the auto ECU's that are different...

Can someone with an auto 32 have a look under their bonnet at the blue build plate and confirm the model of auto for us please?

    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
    • Hey. Very valuable information about pitwork, I will pay attention when buying any consumable parts 🙏 As for the carpets - I got a handful of information from nengun, from which it appears that indeed the carpets for the driver's side are OEM. They are not able to show me any pictures due to the long chain of different sales entities but after I place the order, as soon as the goods arrive at the nengun warehouse from which they will send the shipment to me they can send me photos and if my purchase differs from OEM I can immediately return it / cancel the purchase. I think I will give it a try 😉. Of course i'll let you know what's what as soon as i get them P.s. I know the topic is not relevant to the thread, but both nengun and amayama have these SICK 😍 trunk room lamps available. Do you know anyone who ordered them? I need to have one in my car
