Ok all you knowledgable dudes out there, my daughter's ex-beau's 200sx s14 won't start. RAC had a look and no luck, said seems to be an electrical prob.

He drove it home and a short time later went to go out but wouldn't start. No forewarning.

Someone has suggested it could have something to do with immobiliser. Cranks over so not sure if that would be the prob. He's having it towed to my place now to store it till Monday.

Wondering if anyone has had the same thing happen?

Thanx in advance.

If you think it is electrical, first place to look is the CAS and ignitor - check that the plugs are properly in place - good idea to check all other plugs on the harness too, not forgetting things like the alternator.

Check all the wiriing to make sure there are no signs of wear, brittle wires from heat (around turbo) or any melted bits.

Also it may be worth checking the CAS to make sure it isnt loose and has moved.

Another one, check the coil packs and plugs to make sure they are in good condition.

Fault finding can be a bitch, good luck.

Thanx guys, some good points there.

Will check it out when he comes down tomorrow arvo. Hopefully it will be something minor like a loose plug etc and not a catastrophic failure of some component.

Not familiar with CAS so will look up the net for info on that b/4 tomorrow so I will know what the hell I'm looking for.
