martinwollaston
Hi Everyone, I would like to know if anyone who owns a C210 Skyline, has transplanted a RB20DET or RB25DET with any success? I would be thrilled if someone has done this and is willing to let me ask him/her of any questions that I have during the istall. I purchased a '78 C210 4 door that is in very good nik, happy that it handles better than the R33 RB25DETskyline I use to have. Remember it only weighs 1200 odd kilos, and has the same rear suspension set up (mostly) as the R33. If you have never driven one, trust me, it drives better than a R33! NISMO
Hey Martin, Any luck finding any info? I've got a 78 c210, but mine's a coupe and am also looking at doing a conversion. I've heard though that some big buck are needed if your thinking RB25det. not only engine, but fuel system, brakes etc etc have to be updated. I was thinking more along the lines of the 3L from the R31's or preferrably the RB25 twin cam non turbo out if the R32. Definately agree that the handling is sweet on these things. I feel 100% more confident in my 30 year old skyline than I do in my 2 year old SS Commodore. I had an R33 GTSt a few years and the lighter c210 come pretty close. Let me know how you go. SteveL
....has the same rear suspension set up (mostly) as the R33. Actually they are very different. C210 uses semi-trailing arms like Datsun 1600, 280ZX and R30 Skyline. R33 uses multi-link set-up. Anyway there was a series of articles in old Zoom magazines (late 90's from memory) detailing RB20DET swap into a C210. Covered brakes, wiring, fuel tank mods and mods to fit the engine itself...pretty much everything in reasonable detail. I probably still have them somewhere.
