Just completed a 3 hour tuning session on a dyno. Previous best was 205rwkw running a SAFC2 and HKS 2530 turbo at 17psi. Remember this was not a dyno dynamics dyno, so no shootout mode. The owner has compared his dyno (Dynomax) to a dyno dynamics and reckons his is about 7% lower. Sounds about right as my last dyno on a dyno dynamics dyno was around the 220rwkw mark with alot of peaks and troughs.

So using similar to base ignition maps and tuning the fuel through the power fc load and rpm level we achieved 213,215 then 218rwkw at 18psi (equates to around 233rwkw on a dynamics dyno), which i believe would be true. The peak power is not the picture though, i can draw a straight line from 5000rpm to peak power and it only alters less than 5 rwkw. So the torque feels unbeleavable huge!!!

So out on the road we go, 40kmh roll ons in second gear gets the rear spinning and screaching, not once or twice but all the time. You might think big deal i can do that too, but this is by tuning the power fc and comparing it too my old set up, SAFC 2 and this would "never happen" .

A bit more fine tuning has too be done as im seeing knock in the 80's. I am very impressed with the power, especially mid range, 100 k's in 4th pulls very hard.

Now too the track, but i really need some rear end work now though, without some decent grip im not going to beat my old time of 12.98 with the stock turbo, mph will be alot better. For road work, i might drop a few pounds in the tyres to gain a some more traction, its fun at the moment but im looking for better grip. i dont want to be stuck, spinning.

So, all in all, i tested SAFC's with the 2530 and just didnt work properly, with the power fc it feels like a whole new car. I only gained 13rwkw peak, but the huge power dip i had between 5000/6000 with the safc, it feels like ive gained 30rwkw their alone.

shouldn't you have been able to tune out the dip with the safc?

As you can see here:

http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/sh...44&page=1&pp=25

my SAFCII tune doesn't have a dip in that range which would be between 130-160kmph

I don't doubt that the powerfc is heaps better but maybe you could have gotten more out of your safc with a good tune.

I think my power figure is kinda low but it's on base ignition timing and also we can only get ron95 pulp here so the tune is probably a bit richer than those on the mainland.

Sorry JaFF, but it does have dip, if you draw a straight line beween 95 kph (100 rwkw) and 150 kph (165 rwkw) you will find a dip of ~10 rwkw at 110 kph, 115 kph, 120 kph, 125 kph, 125 kph..........

Admittedly that is not as bad as some, but all engines are different. You are also running different fuel and most importantly base ignition timing. The dip is caused by having to compromise between leaner A/F ratios and advancing ignition timing when bending the AFM voltage with the SAFC (or equivalent). With a PFC (or equivalent) you simply don't 'have that compromise as they are independently tuneable. By fitting and tuning a PFC, I would say you could get ~20rwkw increase between 90 kph and 150 kph and that 's without increasing the max power at all.

I have noticed that the dip becomes greater as the more boost you put in with the standard computer. The SAFC 2 is nice at moderate boost levels. The standard computer doesnt like big boost.

What clutch do you have and tyres did you run to get the 2.02 60ft time?  LOL, you already have 3/10s on me by the 60ft mark:)

A friend had a 2530 on an RB25, i think it was the best street car i have been in, boost and power everywhere, so much fun:)

Sumituno's 255/40/17 HRZ 11, pressure was low. PB 60' is 1.94, last outing the best i could manage was a 2.09 60' and ran 13.09.

Clutch is a Daiken Exede H/Duty and have not had one ounce of slip, not bad for $400 and about a year and half worths.

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
