Just been out for a bit of a drive earlier and got caught up in a drag against a hsv vx 255 clubsport and another hsv, older one with 185i on the back, which sounded pretty worked.

But im glad to say I absolutely pissed all over em'. Specially the 255. The more my speed increased the more I left them, arn't 8's supposed to have top end speed. Off the lights against the 255 was almost laughable.

Anyways, thought i'd share it with ya.

Nothin like blowing away a V8.

there were HEAPS of v8's out today - a vu ute and vn v8 going opposite way from me, a 66 'stang going with me but not wanting to play, and another vn v8 with me who did but the slow people who sit in the right lane stopped anything major happening

255's when tuned back to norm with exhaust derestricted kick some serious s***, but left normal, meh

who won out of you and boostzor yesterday btw hicks? :)

GO THE JAP CARS.

This is off a holden site:

I have to say that the monaro is one of the better looking holdens, but that performance is average i have had a ride in the cv8 and also in the hsv gts coupe and just last night got blown off by many a jap cars an sufers in me mates vt ss especially this one little evo 6. the gtr isnt in the same class as the munro because it is a twin turbo all wheel drive six it cuts 0-100 in mid 4.4s 0-400 12.8 the only holden that can do that is HRT 427. Unfotunatly we aussies just cant compete with the nippon stuff especially those skylines and supra's with 1000+ bhp. never seen anything more than 600 bhp out of a holden v8 except supercars. but if there is send some info i would love too see a real aussie beast instead of the regular crud.

Its the truth....................it is!!

Sure Hicks we believe you.

So boostzor must have a slow car too if he couldn't beat you?

If you got rid of those ROH 18" rims, and got some light weight jap rims then you'd have probably won.

Any time you line up against a jap car you should be prepared to hold the angry pedal to the floor. I'll race you once you have your SAFC re-tuned, must have been the reason you didn't win.

(Just having fun with you Hicks.)

See'ya :burnout:

I'll vouch for ya, I was there right behind both of them. It wasn't a standing start drag though, rolling start from about 30-40ks. Both of them took it easy off the line, trying to be polite I think, but one thing led to another and before you knew it, it was on. I was right behind Hicks when they went, but I couldn't fully floor it cause he was holding me up :)

Anyhow, with all the negative vibes coming from Hicks and co towards hsv's, I've pretty much decided to work dads soon-to-be-ordered R8 to run at least mid 13s. Can't have him being embarrased should one of you guys race him, can we? ;)

Hey Summoner did i not see on your website you draggin a R30 skyline which seemed to be beating you?:)

Gave a newish GTS a run on Saturday night just off Belmont Park exit just after Graham Farmer Freeway... i beat him in 1st he beat me in 2nd (I had way to much wheelspin!) we were EXACTLY neck and neck in 3rd then Mr Hyundai 4wd decided to do 60kmh in 90 zone in my right hand lane so i had to slow down! not sure if GTS was worked but it had a nice loud exhaust! It was the closest drag i have ever had!

mates old car, we're pretty much dead even rolling run. Its had more work done than most cars on here hence i dont mind, but when i c near stockers harping on about killing holdens etc i get a bit sus :)

That R30's got an RB20DET, VG30 turbo, custom truck core cooler, bit of boost etc. we have the best runs he's sold it now ;)

very nice good luck with times :)

I'm always happy to see other cars run quick dont get me wrong.. and i know hsv's arent lightning quick. But you will udnerstand my paranoia when most cars here run in the low 14 bracket etc.

Hopefully when utes on road i can play with yas some time.. but.. its going on the back burner for my project car, which when its finished should hopefully give you guys a good run hehe ;)

I was under the assumption that skylines, as stock, would beat a stock commy anyway???

commy hunting isn't a hassle, they aren't the fastest cars on the roads, I don't see why you get sus when they say they beat them

also vg30, intercooler etc aren't exactly big mods when you compare it, I know it'll go fast, but hell, I've got those things sitting in my garage at the moment :)

also rolling is diff, it's not a fair drag for both

since one may have the advantage of launches whereas the other may have better high end power

1/4 is the only way to determine it

adam - ask to go into the 8's lane for a cuople of runs - they let you ;)

in an old skyline with very little weight(R31) those mods make a big diff, esp since its had an engine swap. Try racing some modded gen3's, stock for stock a gen3 exec will keep up with a stock r33 gts-t(no pod/exhaust like 99% of imports).

i dont mind sharing my plans, this afternoon i'm picking up an LH SL/R rolling shell. It will be a retrotech project(still with pushrods tho hehe). 1st thing install for it tho is a strip down and a respray which will take a while to save up for haha.. so dunno give it year or 2 and mite see something happening with it :)

Utes getting fixed as we speak, apparently back on road 13th but they said not to hold em to that

    • Actually everyone on the roads was really well behaved. The only person that did any minor tailgating was a local hoon in a Turbo Focus. Unfortunately we weren't going the same way so there was no grand initial D touge battle. Lots of people pulled over and let me through. The amount of "Hey man nice car, omg skyline, nice 34 man woo" was suprising. Like really suprising. Like almost annoying. My partner was obviously surprised, she'd never seen anyone in the real world point out the car/like the car/want to chat about the car before, so to have like 3 people per day mention it was notable, I could finally say SEE? SOMEONE THINKS THEY'RE COOL. Everyone was also pretty suprised about the weather. Every day was dry and about ~13-14C. Mount Wellington had a sign that said they close the gates at 9pm and I was heading up there at about ~7:30. It was VERY apparent that conditions were getting significantly worse by the minute on the way up and down. The road on the mountain was terrible though, it's no driving road. I have various suspension related questions now. Luckily it was only about 20 minutes from where we were staying to the top of the mountain as said Google maps. We only had the 2 nights in Hobart. We went to the Farm Gate Market though which was really good - And went down to the Hastings Thermal springs/caves down there during the day. I'd definitely be up for going back again, so luckily there's a few more sights yet to see. Didn't get to do the west coast/queenstown/cradle mountain so this was supposed to be a 'scouting' trip anyway of sorts if I were to one day do/take part in/organize a more car-focused trip. As for the boat, it wasn't bad. Well it was bad, but not in the way you're thinking. We did the night trip which leaves at 6:45 (though you have to be there ~2 hours earlier) and arrives the next morning at about 6am. There is nothing to do on the ship. If you plan accordingly and bring a book/tablet/show to watch/charger you can just chill out, take some Travacalm and just sleep through it. The food there is an extremely basic buffet that costs $32 a plate, or $14 for a $3 pizza. The way back we had a travel kettle and a few different types of cup noodles and made our own tea/coffee in the room. This was a far superior way to do it. At the very least book one of the rooms with beds. I guess as we were in the off season we didn't have room mates. You get an option for rooms with 4 beds (2x bunks) or a room with just the two bottom beds. There's also some option for a deluxe queen bed but it's much pricer. We've been on sleeper trains in Asia before so we figured this is similar (and it was)
    • You just gotta be really, really, really clear and decisive with what you want your end product to be. 99% of people who want this conversion aren't "I want to run a 295 front tyre!" so they don't really need the widebody. They just want the OEM body to look a little less dumpy, so bonnet, bar, skirts job done with some camber, stretch, slam. It's when you want that, but then decide to pivot later you get big problems. See also if you're willing to get an all in one fibreglass bar, and you're willing to accept fibreglass problems like cracking the entire item on a driveway, instead of just a piece attached to the bottom, etc etc etc. Decide this all before buyin'.
    • After @Kinkstaah debacle, I'd never want to try and get it right 😛
    • The hood lines up with the fenders. The front bar doesn't perfectly line up with the fenders where the wheel arch is. You have to 'squeeze' the front bar 'in' as it wants to naturally flare out and be longer on the sides. There's a few threads where people notice this when they only swap a GTR style bumper and front bar. Unless you have genuine OEM items - you may be better served getting conversion kits. There are GTT bumpers to fit GTR hoods. There are GTR hoods (non genuine) to fit the GTT bracketry. MAY
