hey guys sorry but im a fair n00b to this site, and im also a n00b when it comes to skylines, any ways a couple of days ago i picked up my first car, a 93/94 R33 gts-t

and i'm still learning a fair bit about it, anyways getting to the point.....

the stock steering wheel is extreamly ugly and worn so i decided to take a trip down to autobarn and pick up a new steering wheel, its a nice Autotecnica one, and i asked for a boss kit, the guy behind the counter dicked around for ages looking up codes in his product book unitl he found the code for the boss kit, looked on his computer and saw he had none in stock, however the nearest autobarn from this one did, so i took a trip down there and picked it up

got home and took me ages getting the stock steering wheel off, turns out it doesnt fit my steering wheel, but fits the car fine, well atleast i think it does.... i unpluged this wad of cables going into this little black box the size of a matchbox from my stock steeringwheel because it was in the way of the new boss kit going on... and also had to remove this square thin box with wires such as the horn etc in that had a hole in it and fitted over the spline.... so not only does my boss kit not work, but i have no idea what all thsoe wires were ... can someone help me out?

im lost :P

thanks

Gday,

Welcome to SAU.

I can't help with your boss kit etc as I don't know if it's the right one and I personally don't shop at autobarn

Some of those wires however should be your horn. There are 2 of them for that.

The rest may perhaps be an airbag, and I'm not sure but I think HICAS cars also have some wiring there? Although someone more knowledgable may correct me on that.

hey thanks mate, umm yeha there are two wires for the horn coming out of the circuit board in the black box thingy (pos, neg) but there are about 4 other coloured wires going into it and i just drove it with out it connected and it didnt seem to afect the cars driving, i was just wondering does anyone know what it is and wheather or not i need it, btw i dont have an airbag....

    • It's funny, as Ive seen plenty of people use them in cheap builds on YT. And they actually go okay, even though a lot of other maxspeedingrods stuff is terrible. Those turbos seem reliable enough, the only part being, a good quality turbo that is "identical" to it, will out perform it day in and day out. In both a lower boost threshold, and the ability to flow more air at the same boost pressure. As a cheap cheap replacement, not a terrible choice. For cheap and shouldn't blow in a day, not terrible (like other eBay/Temu turbos) for low cost and still decent performance, that's where the question comes in to play from the results I've seen. I'd actually find it hilarious to buy one, and strap it to a paddock basher or some other cheap as POS originally NA car, and send it to the moon!
    • The maxpeedingrods turbo is cheap and bolts on to stock parts. I think you just need a bigger silicone coupler for the intake. Its a cheap china turbo, but it's been running on mine for almost 3 years at 16-19 psi.
    • What do they look like right after you've tried to start it with everything connected? Also post photos of what they actually look like.
