ok rb25det has limit of about 280rwk? i read on this forum, will a thicker headgaste help raise this limit? or will it not really do much?? whats the main purpose of it?

It will help a little but ultimately at that kind of power level it doesn't take much for something to go, be it pistons valves or whatever. If you are one of those people who has that much power for bragging rights and rarely uses it then you may enjoy higher power for years but personally I can't see any point in having a powerful car if you are not going to use it properly.

not really for bragging rights. i do take the car for occasional track use, drag, circuit, etc. i just want max power on stock internals, safely.

A thicker headgasket will increase the boost threshold, alters the compression (reduces it I think) & I believe reduces some effects of detonation.

Thick gaskets and decompression plate are a bad idea.

They alter the factory squish zones and can cause more detonation then having the factory compression ratio which may be higher.

Be careful if you got that way.

is it really worth the 400 to bux or how ever much a decent MHG is wouldnt you rather go a set of forgies to know for sure that 300rwkw it will be safe

lol can you explain to me what you mean by squish zone?

and 300 buks or so for head gasket is a lot cheaper than getting forgies lol, it is all i can afford at the moment...

may get forgies later on tho, will see how it goes...
