hi guys,

ok let me paint a picture,

i have a 33, with some mods, and makes some power,

i have a bosche 040 supplying fuel to standard injectors with a stock pressure reg

this is my second bosche pump (will explain in due course)

after about 100kms of hard mtn terrain in the crisp hrs of teh morning, the pump gets very noisy and the car starts to miss.

i stopped and pulled teh pump out,

no signs of anything blocking it, mesh looked nice and clean.

however i did notice that all the fuel in the tank was rather warm, heaps warmer then fuel normally is.

anyway, put the pump back in, filled up with gas and drove on,

about 40 kms further along the drive, same issue started up again. car starts to miss under load, and even at very low revs,

cars becomes completely undriveable

wen i stop the car i hear the very noisy pump whinning like a virgin being broken in by a big black african warrior.

once the pump cools down (i ssume its cooled down casuse the noise stops) it starts to work fine again.

so what do i do?

get another pump, (i sent the last one back when it started to do this)

or is it something else?

any ideas and comments will be greatly appreciated

I recently got an 040 installed intank in my 33 GTST, to replace the stocker.

Only issue I had is that I couldn't get the pump as far down as the standard one (due to the design of the pickup), but I've got no problems with that because I'm able to keep my car filled to at least a 1/4 tank at all times.

Apart from that, you wouldn't be able to tell it's an aftermarket pump. No extra noise, the car doesn't take any longer to start, and I'm totally happy with it.

neil: sounds like its not getting enough current, therefore not working to its full efficiency. Probably the heat is the sign of it working much harder than it should (which like u say will result in a failure eventually)

might have to run some thicker cabling to the pump..

Something to investigate anyhow.

mate.i had a similar problem, sounds to me that you have a fuel block, first i would look at your fuel reg pressure, cause of this means if it is blocked or not functioning properly means no fuel is returning back to tank.at this stage fuel pressure is building up in your fuel rail sending too much fuel thru your injectors which floods the spark plugs causing miss.I suggest checking fuel pressure at in take and return. Its happened to me,also happens after 20mins of driving with same symptoms. In my case it was the fuel reg.hope this helps.

    • There is no difference between a 17x8 and an 18x8. The total diameter of the tyre needs to remain +/- the same (so you don't mess up the gearing, speedo reading, and clearance when turning front wheels..... so you just need to use a lower profile tyre on th 18 than you do on the 17. /rocket surgery.
    • I thought the same to start with. But then I thought it was one of those LCAs where the end of the ARB goes through a bushing in the LCA itself, instead of having an end link.
    • Yeah - I mean, go the other way. Smaller range. Not larger.
    • To re-cap, I bought: https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Lsailt-8G-Infiniti-Q50-Q60-2014_1601171829627.html?spm=a2756.trade-list-buyer.0.0.2cd476e9FTIlKE As you can see, if I bought 20 it was $653, but I bought 1 so it was $1,170. I was very tempted to buy 2 and resell 1 at 25% cheaper. @MBS206, I am not sure if they do a Kluger one, here is their list but it might be there under a global model name: http://www.lsailt.com/product/android-interface?page=1 Keep in mind these full android replacements have basically all the bits a phone does (cpu, ram, storage, wifi, bluetooth, usb interfaces) other than a screen (it uses a host), thus the $800+ cost. Android Auto screen mirroring is MUCH cheaper as it's just a cut down shell, input mirroring and output mirroring BTW I also need that "screen off" feature, it is much harder to see wildlife even if a dash is reasonably dark. Both the Fuga and V37 have display off buttons for night use, they just come back on for a second or 3 if you interact with it, eg skip a song.
    • I use FCC car launcher. It has an option for different backgrounds, so instead of turning the screen off you can swipe 'up' to a black screen with no background/icons. (mine has the time on it only). It's kinda nice. Also lets you use gestures to say swipe to go to next song, etc.
