Apart from me and AlexCim, are there any other Melbourne stagea owners out there? If so, post a reply to this, as we should help each other out on various stagea issues :D

We should also get together sometime soon to look at all the different stageas!

Burns and i think michealquinn (spelling on that one) are from melbourne.

I was going to send a PM around with details to meet up, but that would be good to meet up, then we chat about things.

Plus, i would love to talk to Burns about his, having already done FMIC and stuff, could help me out.

I think there was a thread a while back stating where we were all from, maybe it needs to be dug up and updated?

That was I thread I started many months ago asking for any Melbourne owners of a series 2 - as I wanted to look at one before buying one. I didn't get many responses (ie non from series 2 owners!)

So I think it's better to start a new thread that's a bit wider.. :-)

actually, I just did a search and that post isn't around anymore. In fact, the stagea posts only seem to be staying around for a few months, then they are gone.....

I better start copying usefull stuff over to my web site so that I've still got it when I need it!!

How about we organize something now and if more people are from melbourne, they can just say.

As for me, i study during most days. Ill assume most people are busy weekdays, so i am free any weekend as long as i get about 1 weeks notice, prefer saturdays as i do homework sundays, but they are still fine.

What would people want to do? Just meet up and chat? BBQ? Cruise somewhere(then BBQ??). Hills view or Beach? etc etc

Suggestions would be good.

My preferences : On a nice day like today (may not be this arvo) cruise up into some BBQ place in the Dande's. Buy some meat on the way somewhere, snags etc. No drinking for me, P's still ;)

Cook em up and talk over food?

Hi.....my first post here.

When is the cruise looking at going ahead, as my stagea is sitting over in japan bout to be shipped over, so got bout 5 wks til l can come.

Are there many people in melb with stagea's, ll've seriously been looking for a month on my drive to uni everyday, and l'm yet to see one.

There is a guy on carsales selling his Stagea, he is in Glen Waverley area.

His number is on his listings, i contacted him and im gonna meet up with him next week some time. I really want to discuss his brembo brake setup...and some other stuff... but yeh, when we organize something, ill invite him along too (assuming he isnt already on this site and going to invite himself)

Others???? Now wonder we don't see too many around town!

Just some questions so i can put some ideas out

1. What dates are best for people, saturday or sunday?

2. Where is everyone coming from, dont want to make it an east meet is someone has to come from the west...could make it northern

3. Preferences on activity/event (BBQ, beach etc)

4. How soon should the event be?

My answers

1. Any days are fine, prefer saturdays

2. East side, Forest Hill

3. BBQ in hills (Silvan Res is a nice day place, page 122, H11)

4. I would pefer something in late september, gives me some time for some parts to arrive (more conversation topics :P)

Sounds like it will turn out to be a nice event...Post your replies

    • From my youth: GTi-R clutch change is a massive pain. The gearboxes are fragile? But the car is super cool and I want one 😢

    • Driveline vibration is resolved. I ended up loosening all my engine mount and trans mount bolts, giving it a good shake then retightening everything and it's gone... Let's just say I was surprised that fixed it.  I've been happily driving it around again but unfortunately put zero time into my direct port/constant pressure WMI setup. I'm on vacation next week, so I'll try and finalize it then.  On a different note, I spent all week fuel/ignition mapping 2x 216L V16 engines. Turbo's were burning glycol and we swapped them out for larger units. We also had planned emissions testing on site, so I figured I'd be there the same week to use their instrumentation and massage any emissions issues out if needed. This was a first for me. Fuel management is similar in certain ways to automotive (i.e air density as load variable) but very different in others. It's all PLC based and AFR's are controlled by air and not fuel. They use a control valve between the turbo and air manifold to control pressure which in turn controls AFR's. Due to this, target AFR tables supplied by the OEM are in pressures and not mass which really through me off. They use air pressure vs fuel pressure tables. I also relied on an O2 concentration sensor the emissions team had in the exhaust. Ignition timing was also all over the place and we were losing a fair bit of power. They're now happily sitting at 16-40BTDC depending on load. We were making about 1600kw at 900rpm at 90% load. Engines were running a lot smoother as well.
    • heh, aint no R32 ever meeting modern targa cage rules unless the driver is veeeery short OP, good luck with the sale, since its already in the land of freedom I'm sure you will find a good buyer.
    • meh, it was a good video, clear about the issue and how he dealt with it. A bit heavy on the RTV and very brave to put an RB in anything without rebuilding it first, but otherwise I thought it was good Dose, I'm not sure that having the pickup forward is a big issue; yes of course the oil could shift under brakes but the sump should never be empty enough for that to be a problem (unless you also have a higher volume oil pump, and that oil can't return from the head to the sump quickly enough)
