Adam_RSX
Has anyone here run a FJ20E in a DR? Just wondering whether they feel significantly down on power compared to a stock FJ20ET? Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85735-na-fj/ Share on other sites
dr30man
Yeah mate got one in the beast at the moment, they do feel significantly down on power but since the fj20et dont boost till late and the fj20e has a fair surge of power once you get over 3500rpm it still makes things interesting, oh and dont forget the fj20e sounds sooooo much better at full tilt (i have a 3in straight through exhaust + extractors), and thats all i wanted anyhow. Adam_RSX
Yeah, I was figuring it would HAVE to sound better... FJ20ET's sound even worse than SR20's So a 3 inch works ok? Maybe I wont have to change to my pissy exhaust after all..... Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85735-na-fj/#findComment-1553305 Share on other sites
Matty T
Yeah, mine is an NA FJ as well. Genuine DR30 RS. I can't wait until Xmas, when I put the snail on the side. CAMS won't let me use anything other than the factory turbo, so if anyone has any hints on how to make good torque with the factory setup and a NA engine, I'm all ears. Oh, and the sound is glorious! My car has no sound deadener, no interior, no parcel shelf, no rear seats - nothing. It is just one big echo chamber for that exhaust note. With a helmet on, it is bliss. Without a helmet on, your ears bleed. I have never driven a DR with a turbo, so I have nothing to compare it to. Can't wait though... D-limo
Yeah, I thought a straight through 3 inch would have been a little too big for an atmo 2 litre as well Would sound so very angry though... They may have been bullshitting me as I never heard it from outside, but thats how they described it NA will be fun, and noisey Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85735-na-fj/#findComment-1555352 Share on other sites

Adam_RSX
Yes Hopefully get the oil return fitted and the manifold studs changed before I put it in the car, then I can change it to turbo later Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85735-na-fj/#findComment-1557847 Share on other sites
D-limo
Don't know about you guys but my mates DR has a 2.5 exhaust with a single cheap cannon muffler and it sounds VERY much like a truck, Espicially with the lack of bov, can hear it spooling every gear.... This is outside by the way Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85735-na-fj/#findComment-1557891 Share on other sites

Boof
Mines got the big turbo spool ups and downs now, but never used to have with the standard turbo...I like it but Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/85735-na-fj/#findComment-1559620 Share on other sites
D-limo
FJ turbo's sound the best... When you hear one burbling along you know as soon as it hits 3.5 grand its gonna hit boost and leave the struggling N/A opponent in its wake....
