Hey,

Im in the market for a 34 and just wanted to know when inspecting one what to look out for.

I currently have a 32, if I was to buy another one or help a mate look for one there are certain things I would look out for. Varing from cosmetic, interior and mechanical due to the nature of the specific car.

Once you own a certain car you notice and learn certain parts about them that start to deteriorate etc.....

While knock on wood that you haven't, would just like to know from you guys, if theres anything, even if little.

Thanks in advance.

Had mine since almost new, now done 42K and as the above post says, it's time to replace the coil packs. Will be replacing mine with Splitfires. Other than that, generally a pretty good vehicle if they are maintained well. As most Skyline owners will tell you. Keep to regular service schedules an you won't have any problems. The coil packs are the first thing (other than blown bulbs) I had play up.

Cheers

Muz

mines done 60k+ only had the 02 sensor replaced, *touch wood* coil packs are still in good order. I get awesome mileage which is a bonus for a skyline owner. Apart from that try and find a stock example with low kays and you should be alright.

Ive had mine about 10 months now, in that time the list of dramas has been as such;

- Shorts killing tail lights (3 of them, before the dealer finally fixed the short)

- Leaking master brake cylinder

- Leaking shocks

- Siezed turbo

Apart from that she's been great, and I do push her pretty hard on occasion, so the more serious of above repairs isn't too surprising I guess. Most of my friends who I take for a ride comment on how much like a brand new car it is, despite 8yrs old now, so as mentioned above, stick to regular service intervals, and you should be pretty right.

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
