  1. Putting a decent resonator on your system eliminates it completely and as NA_33 said, although it becomes a bit quieter it sounds much deeper. I can relate to what all of you guys are saying, it kicks in around 2500/3000 rpm and makes an awful crackling/vibrating noise. I to was embaressed changing gears b/c the sound was that awful! Trust me, all you need is to put a good resonator in the piping, you'll be thankful.
  2. Everyone tells me that and has a go at me thinking i went to that trouble!?? But i bought the car as stock as a rock with the exception of a factory fitted Type M front bar so of all the things that could be done to the car i don't know why my little ricer would go to the trouble of changing the badges of all things... while not even bothering to take off the GTS25 decal from the rear or update the calipers !!
  3. Mine came with red badges and its a non-turbo
  4. Magna Flow Street Series Single 4 inch tip
  5. Yeah will do mate, they're a bit more than coby's but reasonably priced.
  6. Yeah when i was fixing my exhaust i got them to check one last time for any extractors other than Coby and they found a place in Sydney that does RB25DE extractors by Hurricane. I've heard of the brand just havn't seen a pic and don't knwo anythign about them. I wasn't expecting anyone else to do extractors for non-turbo's. Obvioulsy they're mild steel but i'll find out a little more about them.
  7. Hey guys looking at getting a set of hurricane extractors, just wondering if anyone on here has them? And if so what are they like?
  8. Hey guys just letting you know i got my exhaust fixed the other day, and yes Eug you were right it was the resonator. They fitted a larger one and it has completely eliminated that annoying rasping note! Sounds mad now a really deep throaty note. So if anyone has that prob which i know a few of you do, change your resonator or put one in!
  9. Yeah at the momment i've got a Magna Flow it looks and sounds great, however i'm contemplating changing it to an angled cannon style. Just some advice when you get it done, put a universal muffler in the cat back as well, not only will it quiet it down and make the exhuast less droney but it will also help eliminate that awful vibrating noise that NA's are renowned to make with an aftermarket exhaust!
  10. Go an X-Force stainless steel cannon style with 4.5" tip! Can get them with titanium tips as well they look and sound mad!! Another good brand is MagnaFlow.... OR another option, A'pexi do an N1 series for NA cars with 2.5" inputs! Bit pricey though i'd imagine. Thats my 2 cents :bond:
  11. I'm selling my cat-back exhaust system for a non turbo R33 2 & 1/2 inch mild steel mandrel bent piping with resonator & Magna Flow Street Series Stainless Steel muffler (4 inch tip) Includes optional removable silencing plug for the tip $500 Located SE suburbs- will meet up Any signs of interests PM me Cheers guys
  12. Haha yeah i've heard a few guys have had this same problem. I've had my stock exhaust on since i got the EPA test, but i'm thinking about adding another muffer into the system, before the cat if i do decide to put it back on. Hopefully that will eliminate the noise!! Otherwise i'm helpless, pack it up, sell it and leave the stock system on. Or buy a good reputable Jap brand like a Kakimoto, trust, a'pexi or blitz system. I did heaps of research and i was soo close to getting one of these but in the end decided to go to the local exhaust place!! Ah well what can you do!
  13. So is this still going ahead?? As i said i'm definate along with some others so what's happening? Are you going to place the order or has it fallen through? Let us know buddy.
  14. Thanks mate, yeah i've heard that but mine's pretty much piping all the way through, and i confronted them about that and they said it wouldn't be. Does anyone else have this problem? My mate's is fine however his 33 has an RB20. Has anyone overcome this problem?
  15. Hey guys, i was hoping you could help me out. I've read somewhere here in the forums that some N/A exhausts make a really wierd irritating vibration noise at around 3000 rpm. Thats the case with mine and i can't get rid of it!! I cant stand it anymore. I got the exhaust done well over a year ago, its comprised of custom 2 1/2 inch mandrel bent piping with a magna flow stainless steel 4 inch tip single wall muffler. At first i thought the muffler might be faulty or somewhere in the piping but thats not the case. I'm putting coby extractors and a hi-flow cat on but don't have much faith that it'll eliminate the noise! If anyones got or had the same trouble can you please help me out. I read it was something to do with the cams and timing, is this the case? For the time being i have my stock exhaust bolted on because i got done by the EPA. Cheers guys!
  16. Yeah well i'm definately down - I'm in Melbourne, who else is definate??
  17. Yeah i'm interested as well. I've been after some for a while, done a lot of research and coby seem to be the only ones for a reasonable price. If its still going ahead count me in. Let me know soon, otherwise i'll have to order them myself!
  18. Tokyo Tepanyaki on Chapel Street! Get them to do the floor show as well around the hot plates. Extremely entertaining and the food is great!
  19. I understand that, my car is undergoing the same thing but it comes in handy when you know someone in the trade. I know if you went to any panel beater they would be asking a lot more, but i'm going by my quote and i'm sure this person and his company would look after others as well and give them a good deal. Not only is he highly experienced and professional, he's been in the industry for decades and repaired many skylines. I should have stated i knew the guy thus the price is not entirely accurate, but yes i did get a job exactly as you described for around that price mark.
  20. It shouldn't be too much, I was in an accident last week and had damage to my rear quarter, i'm assuming the panel needs painting so should only be a couple of hundred if you go to the right place. Also, my panel beater recommended to paint the door and front guard so it will all match nicely 100%, and my cars black!?? So if you're really particular they may recommend you do the same.
  21. Yeah i was told to use sikoflex as well as drilling two holes or so to mount the sideskirts. As for the pods- if they're fibreglass copies taken from a mould may be a bit of mucking around, especially pressing the lip part up and around the rear bar. I used tiny plugs to hold that curving part in, but my car is black so can easily get away with it. The end result looks really neat and professional, but there was a bit of mucking around involved. Otherwise just take it down and get someone else to do it!
  22. Thanks for the recomendations, i would have tried them but i got a really good quote today at Glen Waverly Panels, my friend is good mates with the owner and recommended him. I've bought a front guard and new headlight, and they are going to beat out the rear quarter, front bar and the corner tip of the bonet and fully respray the rear panel, side door, front guard, front bar and bonet. On top of that for a little extra they're going to touch up, detail and completely respray the other side of the car as well so the paint will match . They said it will take approx 12 days so i'll let you know how it goes, but so far i'm very impressed. The car wasn't too badly damaged at all but it still burnt a hole in my pocket.
