the night it happened i was kicking myself i didnt just take the next side street and check out but all that was going through my mind as 'what if i try to get away and he catches me?', i would have really felt it then! Anyway, my car was back on the road the next day.... i didnt have to get the epa certificate, just got a full roadworthy and put the standard air box back on, put the silencer back in and reconnected the stock boost controller...... its just a waste of my time and money....... back when i was younger if i saw a cop do a u turn after me id just floor it and get out of there and was never caught, so much for trying to do the right thing!!!! it is so frustrating having to put up with this crap from cops... if doesnt take much to realise what the majority of Skyline Owners is all about... If they only read the forums they would see that we are far from the typical twit that drives like a maniac on the road... i drive my car 7 days a week, to work, everywhere and only give it a bit of a squirt in a safe way, such as through first and a little in second.... i dont speed, i dont smoke em up at every lights and it pisses me of that we are treatedlike crims just because we have an interest in a powerful car! i can accept that u get dicked for being an idiot on the road.... the problem is that because these cops catch one person acting like an idiot they think anyone with an import is in the same boat.... what pisses me of even more is that when this cop sees me again driving hoime form work, ill garantee he will pull me over time and time again......

the funny thing was when he was looking at my motor and the frontmount, pod etc, he actally asked me if the car was turbo hahahaha..... anyway he got me for the usual, 1. Pod with front mount, he said i can have either but not both.. 2. Boost Controller 3. Exhaust Noise i very polite and honest, i dont like to stir up trouble as u never know how far they are going to go with it...... i even mentioned that i pulled over when i was 200m in front of him hen i could have easily take the next side street out of there, which he acknowledged and thanked me for... but it still didnt stop the fine!! his attitude soon changed for some reason, he became very friendly and polite himself commenting on my stereo and asking how much it cost etc etc..... so i though "ok, this might not be so bad" so i was suprised when i the fine was with the defect notice... under what conditions can this fine be offered?

i live in mount waverley, near chadstone.... sorry i edited my last post saying that i have a silencer for my exhaust so i dont think (hoping) the standard one will be needed as if it is then i will be stuffed...

i was afraid someone would say that..... so i need a db reading??? does anyone know where this can be done in the inner SE suburbs..... i read my defect notice and it says, "Exhaust noise.... To comply with EPA" i appreciate the advice but i would assume that the roadworthy would include an exhaust that was too loud? ill be fine, im just going to put the silencer back in, with it the car is very quiet so im VIC roads will not even think twice about it....

i was driving away from the city and the intersection i took off from was cnr of Malvern Rd and Glenferrie Rd..... im not that angry about it as i knew it was going to happen, it was just a matter of time and ill had the car for about 18months with driving 7days a week... the items wil only take about 15mins to fix so it isnt all that bad, hopefully ill get a roadworthy 2moro for it an clear in monday fingers crossed....

Well as the title says, i was defected comming home from work only an hour ago! I was just driving normally on Malvern Rd and suddenly saw and undercover XR8 turn its on lights on the other side of the road and after about a 20 point turn managed to come after me..... I was approx 200m in front of him and had plenty of time to dart into a side street but though id pull over and do the right thing. He gets out of the car and tries tell me i was speeding, when i told him i what honestly doing about 40 km/hr hw went all red in the face and said, 'right well then if u are going to be like that then ill just defect your car'.... hence the yellow sticker on my windscreen!! Anyway, i have a couple of questions: 1. the defect notice saifd i have to have a complete roadworthy and one of the points is that my exhaust noise must comply with the EPA.... what does this mean exactly? does it mean i have to be below an certain db or does it mean i have to take my car to the epa? i am guessing just comply? 2. do i have to book in a time with Vic roads or can i just turn up with my roadworth and have my car checked and signed off?? what really got up me is that i was fine $169 for driving an unroadworthy car..... There is no need to further punish me considering i was just driving in a normal fashion... i am no idiot on the road at keep all the speed for the track.... they take it 2 far sometimes.... i reckon the guy was just pissed of because he thought i was being a smart arse about driving at 40km/hr... oh well.... they price we pay for driving imports.... i appreciate your help guys...

ive got all the mods u mentioned 'TiNTiN' and i made 195rwkw on 12psi which drops off very quickly to 10psi, on the ICE Performance Dyno and i can tell u that the car is ten times better than when it was standard... the response and pick up it now has is fantastic for a street car, especially in the low rev range. it really pulls hard, ill be running at calder soon but ive been told that it is 'capable' of a very low 13... u wont need to upgrade the fuel pump of injectors until u install a bigger turbo... I would definatley recommend u go down and see the fuys at ICE..

id like to know what mods will be interchangeable with the rb20??? eg. injector size? computer? fuel pump etc

As mentioned above, if it has already been registered in Australia then it should be the same as any other car... I bought mine (first owner in Aus) and basically told the guy i bought it off that i would pay him when the car was in my name... i made the appointment at vic roads, (the car had to go through the pits) and the seller came with me, i took a bank cheque for the agreed amount and when vic roads said everything was ok, i handed over the money... i needed quite a bit of paperwork for the car as well (which the seller provided) so just be careful...

thanks, i gues the main issue is not wanting to buy components and then finding out later that they were only suited to the RB20, but what u have said sounds great.... i guess the only question is which computer 2 buy????? i have a PFC on and RB25 which i reckon is perfect, i understand that the RB20 Power FC will work on an RB30 but not and RB25??? is this correct? or is there a better computer out there which will can be used on anything like a microtech, wolf 3D maybe??

what d u guys think about, buying the basics, Exhaust, Front mount, Boost Controller, intake.... for the RB20 then progressing to a bigger turbo? My question is really, if you buy a bigger turbo, and the motor eventually lets go, will the turbo, manifold etc be a basic bold on to an RB25 or RB30 latter on down the track..?? is it really a matter of of taking the turbo setup of the RB20 and fitting it to an RB25 or 30?? how interchangable are all these mods??

Basically a fun road car... plenty of power, fuel economy, insurance etc isnt a problem... as long as it is reliable with plenty of torque then the engine mod will be seriously considered.. he has had the car for 5 years so yes he knows how to drive, and the way the car handles will largely depend on the motor itself, if traction is a problem then money will be spent with that in mind rather than making it a monster around the track... it has to be a monster street car with the very occational track day.... Rwkw figures arent important as i know in the real word 2 dofferent cars with the same rwkw figure could be totally diferent, i was using the 'XXXrwkw' as a guide to inform people as to the final goal...

Nakamichi do make some good quality products, but i believe they carter for a certain section of the market and i wasnt a huge fan of the sound they produced, i personally would rather some Focals, i have put them into 3 cars they have sounded unbelievable in each.... At the end of the day it is going to come down to your own preference, what sounds good me may not sound good 2 u... Focal all the way!
