CHEAP tyres needed - advise me!
ECR033 replied to Beer Baron's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
A mate of mine also has these tyres on his XR6T - he seems to think they give good level of performance for the price (he also used to work for Beaurepairs, so I guess he'd should have a good idea when it comes to tyres). -

Missfire Boost@4500-5500 RPM - The Answer! (for me at least!)
ECR033 replied to Nightman's topic in General Maintenance
My car's recently developed the exactly same problem over the last week or so and I can't understand why the misfire is only intermittant and doesn't happen all the time. I had the car at the tuner today and it misfired briefly while we took it for a road test, but no matter how hard we tried to replicate the same driving scenario, the thing didn't misfire again. Took it out for a drive tonight and what do you know, the bugger starts misfiring again for a brief period. Without looking at the coils yet I'm not convinced that they are the problem due to the intermittant nature of the misfire, as one would think the misfire would be permanently there if a coil was faulty. Tuner thinks it could be a faulty crank angle sensor, but even he seemed a little confused as to why the misfire was only happening intermittantly. Could this be a possible solution? If so, how much would a replacement crank angle sensor cost? Thanks guys. -
Hi Richard, yep I had the PFC in monitor mode with peak hold switched on during each run. I usually don't have any probs with knock on start up (it usually stays under 10), but I actually cleared the peak hold just before I went into stage each time just to get an idea of the peak values during each run. The worrying thing was that the engine light started flashing during my run, so I backed off pretty quickly once that happened.I spoke to the guys that tuned my car this morning and they're going to have a look at it on Saturday...apparantly it's only a minor adjustment.

Bit of an up an down night for me... Did set a PB on the one run I got a sub 2.3 60' time which is good (considering the crappy tyres I've got), but the knock reading on my PFC went through the roof on the next run, so I decided to park it and spectate for the rest of the night. Tuner will be getting a phone call tomorrow... In detail, R/T: .369 60': 2.289 330': 6.014 660': 9.017 mph: 82.59 1000': 11.604 ET: 13.783 MPH: 103.48 Saw quite a few nice Skylines out there tonight...a white R33 GTST running mid 11's and 2 nice looking GTR's caught the eye. Sorry I didn't catch up with any of you...spent half the night with my girlfriend and parents who decided to come and watch at the last minute.
-
Weather looks ok today... Sounds like it'll be a good meet - so hopefully there'll be a good representation of Skylines out there.
-
Sorry, haven't contacted Mines Still for sale...

Ditto Although I saw a nice looking silver R33 in my rear view mirror a few cars back sitting in the carpark that is Victoria Road during peak hour yesterday arvo.

As said, you'll need: *Pink slip: basic inspection at a registered mechanic - costs approx $30 *Green slip: 3rd party personal injury insurance (not to be confused with 3rd party fire/theft etc which is an additional insurance) - costs approx $500 (due to your age), but check out www.maa.nsw.gov.au to get a list of prices from all insurance companies. I found NRMA were considerably cheaper for me. Then go to the RTA and pay the rego fee on your renewal notice and you'll be sorted

Scrutineering starts at 5pm if you're racing...with racing starting from 6pm.

Hey Mate,Yep, you're right - it does remove the speed limiter from the Standard ECU. As for price, whilst I feel like you're robbing me blind (as I've seen them sell for over $500 on here), you've got a deal provided you pay for postage (if necessary). I'm only selling it this cheap as I have no need for it any more - the unit is in otherwise perfect condition. Let me know if you're keen to proceed and we can work out the details then. Cheers, Brenden

What tyres to get? Value/performance
ECR033 replied to agg25's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
This thread should help point you in the right direction see here The search function is your friend - use it, there's plenty of threads on tyres in here -

Thanks for the advice guys – much appreciated Just to clarify my original post (as it may be a little misleading), I’m only looking for an exhaust shop to ‘fit’ my dump pipe and hi-flow cat as opposed to getting a custom job done. I’m already in the process of purchasing the dump pipe and cat from BATMBL and just want to take it to someone who’ll do a good job fitting it.
-
Just looking for some recommendations on reputable exhaust shops, preferably in the Hills/Parramatta area. I only want to replace my standard dump/front pipe and cat with larger flowing items, so it's not overly complicated work - but based on a previous experience with a supposedly reputable exhaust shop in Liverpool (who shall remain nameless, although it's wouldn't be rocket science to figure out which one) whereby I had to go back 3 times to get things repaired, all the result of bad workmanship, I just want to make sure I don't get bitten twice by a dodgy workshop. Any suggestions would be great - thanks guys.

Since the last street meet was a wash out, i'm aiming to get out there next Wednesday 9th March instead - hopefully the weather holds out and I can get close to posting a mid 13 this time round Anyone else interested in going?? On a side note, I read in some WSID newsletter that got sent the other day that they are now supposedly separating V8's from Sport Compact class cars (i.e 4's, 6's and Rotaries) at their street meets. I guess this explains why I was always in the same lane in pre-staging the other week... Additionally, I also read that you can reserve a staging lane (typically for car clubs etc) if you want to pair off amongst yourselves during the night. I'm not sure if this has always been the case, but even so, it would be an interesting night if we could get a large group of Skylines (or imports) facing off throughout the night. If there's any interest, maybe we could look to organise something in the upcoming months...when it gets a little cooler:) Hope to meet some of you out there next Wednesday. Brenden.

R33 Series II Standard ECU
ECR033 replied to ECR033's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Bump - can send pics if anyones interested -
Sorry guys, I'm out - the radar is showing a heap of showers heading towards Penrith and I'm guessing that it'll probably continue along to WSID as well which is pretty annoying. I was keen to run tonight, but I don't want to rock up to get only 1 or 2 runs (if that) because of the rain. I'll definately be there next week though... Good luck ben if you still decide to go tonight
-
Yeah, the radar looked ok mid morning, but it's not looking so promising now...there's rain areas popping up everywhere I'll check it again in an hour's time, but if it's not looking any better, I'll probably give it a miss and look to get out there next week instead.

Weather's not looking too good today...

Standard ECU from 1997 Series II R33 - $135 o.n.o Located in Sydney. Can arrange shipping at buyers expense. No longer have need for ECU as I've recently put a Power FC in my car. Also have a Mines ECU from same car for sale ($350) - see here for details Please PM me or reply here if interested. Cheers
-
Any bigger and it'll rival a top fuel dragster Nice car mate...but yeah, replace the wing with a GTR or M-Spec one instead and she'll be looking sweet.
-
I get about 350kms per tank - usually costs me approx $60 to fill up on either Ultimate, Optimax or Synergy 8000.
-
I'm also keen to know what other mods have been done... I'm contemplating upgrading my turbo in around 12 months time and just want to make sure I make all the other necessary mods in the mean time to ensure that I can get the best of my new turbo once I decide on which kit to get. I was originally thinking of going down the gcg hi-flow path (aiming for 240-250rwkw), but your results are pretty impressive and kinda justify spending the extra money on getting the GT-RS.
