With more impending mods on the horizon and the high fuel prices looking like a permanent part of Sydney life, I've started to contemplate buying a cheap, economical "shitter" for the daily grind to and from work, leaving the Skyline for the more enjoyable weekend drive and a bit of track work. So, I was just wondering what other people do - do people use their modded (200rwkw +) Skylines as just a weekend and/or track car or do you still use it as a daily driver? Thoughts? Opinions? Pros? Cons?

Another quality JV moment - one can only imagine what Peter Sauber would have been saying at the time. The matter was made even worse considering that the whole freight train behind Fisichella finally found a way past him on the following lap which would have bumped the Saubers up to 5th and 6th. Good one champ! BTW, how ballsy was Trulli's move on Fisichella - 10 points for having a go on that one, it's just a shame that it put him out of the race. Otherwise, I thought the race was pretty good overall considering most Monaco races are generally a 78 lap procession. Hats off to Raikonnen, he was class of the field, but I also think Heidfeld drove a brilliant race. His move on Alonso was the highlight of the race for me and he pulled it off brilliantly within a few laps of getting on Alonso's rear end. In contrast, Webber was all over Alonso for many laps and really couldn't find a way through which was a bit frustrating. His move on Alonso (both times) were good efforts though as Alonso was driving more defensively on that particular corner once Heidfeld got past, so Webber's move would have been more difficult than when Heidfeld passed him. Glad to see he finally got a much deserved podium, hopefully there's many more to come. He's got to work on his starts though as they're shocking - I think the car is partially to blame, I think a lot of it is down to Webber himself as Heidfeld seems to get off the line pretty well. This weekend's Euro GP should be interesting with BAR back as well. Hope Williams can improve again, although I think McLaren are well ahead of the rest of the field at the moment.

Just a question... Why were you driving with your foglights on? Was it foggy? Sucks to hear that you got defected, but you really don't have much to complain about to be honest. Everything you got done for is a legitimate defect, so instead of whinging about it either fix the defects or cop it sweet. It's unfortunate, but basically all mods are defectable these days...or so it would seem.

Good to see a few Skylines out there punching in some good times today - well done 2rismo on the PB although I couldn't hear your car running next to that RX7 - damm that thing was loud! Good work to everyone else who was running as well I have to agree that the event itself was a bit of a let down and it also plainly highlighted some of the inadequacies of DYO racing. To think a stock shitbox lancer running constant +18 sec runs could make it to the ET2 final is an absolute joke. There should be some sort of 'qualifying time' to make it to the elimations at the very least.

According to the article, it's run a 10.91 @ 129mph at Heathcote.Sounds like a long way to come from Melb to Syd, only to leave it in the car park though  Provided we're talking about the same car here of course...

That wouldn't happen to be the orange "650kw 10 Sec twin turbo street-driven Supra RZ" on the cover of the new issue of Speed would it? I haven't had a chance to read the article yet, but if the caption on the cover is anything to go by, the car sounds (and looks) like a bloody weapon. If it's the same car, it'll be interesting to see how it goes on Sunday.

That should be a good enough reason not to get them lol

Stolen GTIR from Castle Hill 25th april

Not another one... I vaguely remember seeing that black GTiR (or one with very similar plates) parked out the front of Living Well gym in Castle Hill several times ages ago. Looked fairly tidy...can't believe it wasn't insured though. Here's hoping he get's it back... -
Photoshop Either that, or he's a midget lol

My car came with a cheapo no name bleed value and it really struggled to hold boost even at 9psi. I've since upgraded to a Greddy Profec B Spec II which is a lot better, although when running 12psi, it still looses a little boost at the top end which is annoying (falls to around 10psi approaching redline). Not sure if i'm expecting too much for it to hold boost all the way to the redline, but it's still a heap better than the bleed valve. Definately money well spent...

Perhaps the GTR missed a gear down the straight? Well done anyway!

Need help with R33 GTS-T Series II M-Spec
ECR033 replied to GTS-TOY's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think the price is pretty much on the mark for a Series II. Check this thread out as well. I found it pretty useful when I was buying my Skyline and it should answer most of your questions. Good luck. -
Seriously, give him a break mate.Whilst I'm all for using the search function, he mentioned that he didn't know much about cars, so he probably doesn't know what to search. There's no need to be sarcastic about it, all you needed to do was point him in the right direction as you did in your first post immortal, have a read through this thread - it should help you out.

Count me in as well - deposit paid this morning

I understand your point Roy, but the fact of the matter is that they did not bother to tell me they were locking the maps up front. If they had bothered to let me know, then at least I'd have the information to make a decision to either tell them that I didn't want the maps locked (thus taking responsibility for any changes made to the tune once I leave the workshop) or if that wasn't an option, then the choice to go to another workshop. To just go ahead and lock the maps without informing me at all isn't ethical if you ask me. Like you say, as long as you get what you pay for, then you should be happy - and there's no way I got what I paid for, hence my gripe above

WTF is right about having them :slap:

You're right, the car should be fast, but quite clearly it's not - hence the need for the new aero parts and continued development on their car. Williams still have numerous aero problems and have a long way to go before they are on level terms with McLaren, Renault, Toyota and Ferrari for outright race pace. Webber's front row start was a result of great driving and a very light car. If he'd been on a similar fuel load to Raikonnen or Alonso, the best he could have hoped for in qualifying would have been around 6th place. The team would have known this which is why they probably decided to take the gamble on light fuel to get track position. Obviously it didn't work and Webber got stuck behind the Toyota's because they had enough pace on a significantly heavier fuel load to keep him there. I think Webber's 6th place finish was a very good result considering the inferiority of the Williams at the moment. Webber will show what he's made of when he gets a better car beneath him.

:werd:Due to moving out of home and not having access to Foxtel anymore, basically all my motorsport viewing comes courtesy of Ch10 (and Speedweek on the odd occassion). I cannot stand the Ch10 commentators though - other than Neil Crompton, none of them have a clue what they're talking about most of the time. No wonder I enjoy the WRC and F1 telecasts...no Leigh Diffey commentary
-
It wasn't his just his ability that put him on the front row grid - the fact that he was nearly 20kg's lighter in fuel load makes nearly 1 sec a lap difference.Other than a silly mistake that let Barrichello through just before his pitstop, i think Webber raced ok. It's not his racing that's overly letting him down, it's moreso poor car speed from the Williams and it's inability to get off the line. Hopefully they can get it sorted in the next few races, but it looks like McLaren are starting to get it together and could be the team to beat for the rest of the season.

Huh? Toyota have never won an F1 race in their history...Think you may have been referring to Renault - in which case, I agree with you

I'm pretty sure it has an internal wastegate -
English???mass_iv, If it's only happening when you're car is in neutral or the clutch is engaged, then it sounds like it could you be your thrust race. I wouldn't worry about it too much, but if it's really bothering you, then get it checked out by a mechanic.
