I guess the bottom line is about the money, how much u wanna spend on mods. Obviously if you can afford PFC then it would definitely be worth it. However for those are on a budget and not after massive power, a SAFC give excellent value for money, plus that fancy blue LCD to impress da chics
A mild steel system will be sufficient as the power gain difference with the stainless one is minimal. I actually have a mild steel X-force system on mine, works great and gives good gain 20+rwkw. Get the mild steel and save money for other mods that give better gains.
Alright let just say everything else is the same (engine, mods, drivers,...) and you put 2 cars agaisnt each other, one SAFC and the other PFC, which one would win on 1/4 mile?
Have a look at nengun for Blitz - Dual SBC Spec S, should be about $400 delivered, good value for money. Seems to be more simple to set up than AVC-R and works well.
Sorry to hear about the car dude. Hope it all work out. I also had a near miss incident in the rain about 1 month after I got the car. Was gonna make a right turn in 2nd gear, I got the radio on so couldnt hear the engine. Boost kicked in at about 2200 and the car spun sideway and missed the kerb by few inches. Was extremely lucky and this was when my car was near stock!! Anyway I learned the lesson, beside not turning on the radio too loud during the rain I'm also using 3rd gear whenever making a turn. Boosts in the rain = accident . . .
Here the dyno figure when the controller installed last Saturday. First run without SAFC @ max 9 psi gave me 179kw, boost was very stable at this run. After SAFC it made 212kw boost peaked @ 13 psi then droped to about 11. Overall I think the controller is pretty effective for holding boost. Haven't read the rest of the thread but was wondering if anyone tried this unit with a bigger turbo, does it still work well?
If you gonna use the piping kit as it is then you have got no choice but to trim the fan. Agree its a very dumb idea coz Hybrid just make the kits for generic application not car model specific. Any way when I got my kit installed was advised not to trim too much of ther fan but rather had the pipe raised with a longer silicon hose on the left and a small bar to hol the top pipe mount on the engine. Still need to trim just a little bit off the fan. Well, I guess what you pay is what you get . . .
don't forget that the living standard overthere is higher than in Aust as well as their incomes. I'm not whinging about the high petrol prices coz that don't change anything, just thinking of some ways to save petrol without having to sell the car But if the price gonna rise to some ridiculous level I guess there would be no option and might have to sell the line at a massive loss
Wow u r right cubes! Matt did have the bonnet closed. He also had the other mechanic standing near my car to hear the knocking. The car got a max run at 213 something kw but was winded down a little just to be safe. Matt is a pro, he doesnt just set the car up just to push out maximum power but rather tune it at a reasonable and safe level.
I've done couples of comparisons and Matt is very reasonable. Plus even if he charged abit more I would be happy to pay coz I know quality works are done with my car
What are you doing about the current petrol prices? I'm driving mostly off boost to work, gear shift @ 2000 Also got SAFC recently installed for extra economy. But definitely not gonna take public transport (trains)!!
Also try asking Matt (Hitman) at Penrith. Top bloke know alot about SAFC and Power FC and will explain to you clearly how he is tuning your car. His web site is www.hitman.hm
And here's the thread about my SAFC (version 1) installed there yesterday

boost hits hard as it should be but felt abit jerky. Just like others said a safc tuned car won't drive as smooth as a power fc tuned one. But for the money I spent the power gained is defenitely worth it.
Yeah you r both right! damn I didn't even notice that. It's because after I got my Hybrid copy cooler installed and needed to take that front bit of the air box out (in the way of the new pipe) I've got "True Flow" brand filter (similar to k&n). Anyway its almost like my filter is nearly exposed like a pod. You guys know how much temp would be reduced with a cold box installed?
