  1. Bhdave - that comp wheel looks almost like a stock one. See how they have machined it out but right near where the impeller is there is less material removed. Did your turbo with the larger comp wheel surge? Thanks for the lengthy PM dale. Will respond later. I have verniers so can measure it carefully
  2. Im trying to track down the vg30 housing for around $100.. They are hard to come by.
  3. Ok the first 2 pics are TURBO 1 - the Surging one The other3 pics are the unknown but later GCG
  4. No the other one. It has 21U on the exh housing. It has the larger comp wheel and smaller exh wheel...
  5. Im going to take both turbos to them and discuss. I have already been in contact with them.. I just wanted some dimensions from here if possible The compressor wheel on 1 is too big - I will be reusing the one of the 2ndturbo. But the 2nd turbo has a chipped exhaust wheel and more play.. too many crap turbos here!
  6. they are bot the XTRGTST S1 For R33.. Believe me I have been on to them
  7. I have measured the comp housing on my 2nd GCG. It measures 54mm I.D. This means that it must be about a 52mm OD wheel. My other GCG must be around 54mm OD wheel (The one I am having surging issues with) Anyone measured the comp wheel housing inner diameter. Ans how about the exhaust housing. It seems to be bored out to around 57mm..on the 2nd GCG - the 1st one must be about 54mm I.e. 1) Surging - Approx 54mm Comp wheel (About 56mm bore size) , 54mm exhaust wheel 2) Unknown - Approx 52mm Comp wheel (About 54mm bore size), 57mm exhaust wheel Thanks
  8. You might have something there RB30. THough they are supported by a bearing pack in the middle so I thought this might not be the case
  9. Nah mate the one on my car is the 21U - you are right I have sourced another one. Apparently the oil seal is ok but it does look like oil is coming out the back. . I just posted another question regarding turbo balancing - I'm planning to use the smaller comp wheel on this one on my current one with the 21U housing. It would have been better if I could have used this one since it is already machined. Is there really any difference between the rb20 and rb25 housings? I mean GCG use the Rb20/Rb25 housings interchangeably dont they?
  10. Just wondering if the balancing is independent of each wheel? I.e. If you swap one wheel over that is already balanced to an existing turbo that was balanced would the turbo remained balanced with the new wheel. I have a GCG with too large compressor wheel..I have sourced a blown one with the smaller wheel. Could I just take the housing off, undo the balanced nut and wheel and put it on the other GCG and hope the balance would be ok. I mean if the nut is done up to the same torrqu and relative location to the compressor wheel then that wheel should be balanced. You can see on the attachments the spots where I think they have balanced it. Cheers
  11. thanks cubes. The size looks pretty much identical. Im sizing it up against the R33 one I have on the car..
  12. Well its a r33 compressor housing but it is an old gcg highflow so it may be a mix and match
  13. Yeah it has "04U" on it and "0313" and a random A
  14. I have a supposed R33 turbo - on the exhaust housing it has "04U" How can I be sure it isn't an R32? Ill post pics tonight
  15. cool mate. Yeah - for a rav4 - all the hoses are only $70 thats all heater hoses, bypass hose, bottom and top radiator etc. Its an online store, quite cheap: www.gimmeparts.com.au
  16. Thanks Chris might give the nulon a go. I'm getting all new hoses as the old ones have heaps of scale. Should probably put the new hoses on then do the nulon otherwise there will be heaps more muck in the system that could damage the water pump etc. I assume that the scale it dislodges will not affect my new hosesas they won't be so degraded that the scale sticks to them. ANy thoughts on this? nulon head office is in brookvale right?
  17. If you ask an auto electrician some of them have a special product to kill the mildew in the system - you spray it in the vents or around the back somewhwere. Try this first - about $35
  18. I have a toyota with hoses and reservoir bottle have quite a bit of brown corrosion looking scale in them. I assume this would be in the engine water channels to some degree also. I am not sure whether to use a product to de-scale the engine. I know sometimes dislodging all that stuff could be worse than actually leaving it. Going to get all new hoses.
  19. So is the rb20 exhaust housing smaller than rb25 or not? What are the usual markings on rb20 ones? Thanks
  20. a few spanners and a few hours. They drop straight in
  21. Delta Fin Intercooler brand new. Much better than Bar and Plate and Superior to Tube and Fin. Bought in part of a kit but used a smaller intercooler instead. Box only opened to take a photo. High efficiency core with Inlet and outlet size: 3" Core Size: 600 x 300 x 76mm Retails for over $200 Location: Sydney Item Condition: NEW Reason for Selling: Part of Kit not needed Price and Payment Conditions: $160 Can post if required at buyers expense
  22. Will do $200 for the intercooler including the air director. These usually sell for $60+ alone.
  23. Yeah Im saying 200rwkw with 12psi is good on a perfect motor..let alone rooted cylinder
  24. thats odd. i thought you would have noticed if the comp was downs that low on 1. And I wouldn't have thought you'd get 200rwkw out of it at 12psi. Pays to get it checked out though. Maybe repeat the test..at the place that are going to do the warranty. Make sure you are there and check they reset the gauge before they put it on the faulty cylinder
