  1. I think 230rwkw would be pushing it a little!
  2. So Birnie, Do you think your first AFM may not have been faulty? Or are you still using the first one? It is time consuming when doing mods etc - I don't think I will modify anymore street cars after this. The workshops do similar jobs everyday..and they still make similar or worse mistakes. Hope you get it all sussed.
  3. I did that 2-3k kms ago. The problem was evident with new sparkies. It is worse now since FMIC went on. Cheers
  4. Should give it a go I guess. Idles fine and on full throttle it's fine so I sort of discounted that. I
  5. anyone. It drives ok but definately more of a miss now..
  6. Anybody find the pipe coming over the radiator fan hitting the bonnet in one small section. I might have to get some one to heat up the pipe and bend it a little..
  7. Hi there, Just in the process of finishing mods on R33gtst in order to get a tune (going for around 230-240rwkw). Installed a Justjap 450 x 300 x 76 tube and fin - With the standard justjap piping kit. Problem: I have some missing at low rpm and low throttle inputs. I have had this since I put the GCG highflow on but it is more pronounced now that's for sure. E.g 2000-2500rpm up a hill in 3rd with 1/4 throttle input. What's been done/checked: I have T'd in to the BOV line for the boost controller. At full boost/throttle there is no signs of missfire so I assume coils are ok, I put new sparkies in about 3000km ago. I'm hoping the tune will fix this up - could the O2 sensor be causing this? I think it would still be in closed loop at these times. Anybody had issues like this? The PFC was tuned for stock turbo, R34SMIC and 10psi. Side notes: Boost seems to be raised about 0.5-1psi and the stock AFM is maxing out quite a bit earlier. Feels a bit less responsive though Also running no snorkel on the airbox and you get some wired noises...
  8. Do people find the FMIC still keep intake temps down quite nicely even if most of the front bar is still intact (so a lot of the cooler is covered)
  9. I suppose that's normal for these cars getting on a bit. If it was badly out of balance I'm sure you'd either hear it or see it. Cheers AL
  10. Hey Al, Just looked through some old posts - were you the one that had your water pump fail.? Do you think it was due to the fan being out of balance.. I guess there isn't much weight in the plastic fan so shouldn't matter too much. Thanks for the reply
  11. Seems like I have to take quite a piece off the top corner of the rad fan. A long triangular piece.. Has anybody had any cooling issues associated with doing this? Any effect on coolant temp in summer in traffic? any body had issues with fan being out of balance? Thanks
  12. Thanks Jake - nice pics. Will have to do that sometime. Did you add another feed since you have lost a bit of the inlet size? Looks like I'm having to trim quite a bit of the fan blades - anybody had problems with the car running hot after doing this? Also, it seems the top pipe just rests on the bonnet when you shut it. Can't really reposition it any better..these kits are a little dodge..not bad for the price though. Its resting on some insulation in one small area so should be ok I guess
  13. Any front mount will require a fair bit of front bar modification.. I got the just jap kit 1/2 installed. It is a bit of friggin round but I think they all are. Good thing is the jusjap kit comes with all piping. If you are staying with stock turbo I highly recommend just the R34 SMIC. FMIC is a lot of stuffing around!! Otherwise I've heard people on here doing the install for $250 which is a bargain. So if you want FMIC: DIY - $350 JustJap + Install ~ $600-$700 Performance gain on stock turbo <10rwkw over R34GTT cooler Unless you want the wank factor..
  14. Thanks for the ideas - I think i have that article about the install.. I'm a bit annoyed that I might have to go back to a pod, Otherwise Maybe I can modify the snorkel and add another feed into the top of the airbox..
  15. Keymake - is that the one floating round on the web? About hybrid install.. Did you guys have to trim the back of your indicators? I've had to remake some brackets etc. Must say that it isn't the most fun job. You feel like you're haking the sht out of your car hahah (Mostly all plastic though). Might have to respray some of the bumper. Does anyone know if you can get the dark grey colour that is the darker tone on the 2 - tone silver and charcoal. The colour on the bottom part of the bumper and doors etc.
  16. Almost got mine in. For $250 to install it's an absolute bargain.. Should have just paid for it lol.. Anyways - the snorkel will need almost demolishing. What do others do besides running pods?
  17. It will be good. Don't worry. That is only 5% ethanol, hence minimal change to AFRs. The 10% ethanol fuel at United makes a little difference to AFR but has higher resistance to knocking. I'm thinking about getting my car tuned on the united 98 octane..but then it would be rich on normal 98 and probably would have too much timing. The gtr in a hpi gained about 30kw on the 98 united..
  18. Hey Jake, Were you worried about it being out of balance? Cheers
  19. any body got pics of how much they needed to chop off the fan blades? Do most people trim them without removing the fan? Was it like this?
  20. Anyone that has installed these lately can you please let me know about the Inlet pipe to the intercooler. It is longer on one side than the other by about 3-5cm. Does the longer piece connect to the old pipe coming through the hole in the chassis or does it connect to the intercooler inlet? It seems that either would way might work..
  21. Great. Does it come with 3" outlets and reducers or has the 600 cooler got 2.5" outlets? Thanks
  22. Anyone know what size piping the justjap kits come with? Is it 2.5" or 3"?
  23. sounds like you have an r33 afm not z32...
  24. I reckon you'll find that the ignition timing will be out a lot. Don't know if you'll be able to get it right with SAFC2 alone..
  25. Thanks PLYNX. Are you talking about silicon bends or the mild steel bends? Cheers P.s. The gearstick you made for me is great still.
