  1. hi ive read the rb26 turbo upgrade section and ive settled on 1 of these turbos i really want a quickish street car with the occasional motorsport/drag event . say 300awkw . more is good if its not at the expensive of lots of lag . im looking for something drivable . obviously the -7 with .42 comp should be best but a few people have mentioned it comes on boost very severely with the -5 having a much smoother progressive power delivery which might be better for a daily driver if anyone could shed any light on exactly when and how these turbos would come on boost it would be appreciated.
  2. i did change from a auto r33 skyline auto ecu to a untuned power fc during my last converted car . it was virtually identical . the power fc has a slightly more agressive map than the stock ecu but it is hardly noticable there were no issues with flat spots or idling issues or retard on the auto ecu . my understanding is that the auto gearbox tells the ecu when it changes gear so as the auto ecu with manual thinks your driving round in neutral there should never be a gear change for retarding.
  3. ive used the auto ecu for conversions in both silvia and skylines and it functions just the same as the manual ecu
  4. when you go to your powerfc it will get rid of all cuts and limits from the stock ecu try and get the power fc djetro . it uses map sensor instead of AFMs . Its about 300 ish more than normal power fc so you will save some cash over 2x z32 afms. i have seen a guy get 330rwkw from just 2560s and powerfc (and exhaust ofcoarse)
  5. thanks i was stoked cause the car is in excellent condition cosmetically and mechanically , compression was all good , no accident damage , stock. only issue was a hidious cheap 400r copy front bar . but theres no accounting for taste i guess 24 is a good price for a 32 . i looked at a whole heap and there wasnt many that were nice and some were getting close to 30k and were still crappy .
  6. the sbic id3 will do the same job at controlling boost and is a fair wack cheaper not that theres anything wrong with a bit of rice but its an option to consider
  7. If you read the forum rules we are not allowed to talk about any performance workshops being "bad" so not much point asking that question. If would be nice though if some of the big performance workshops who do frequent here could justify their policy of locking their customers out of the tuning process and keeping them in the dark . Is it really "cause their methods are flawed" ? now is your chance to set the record straight!
  8. I asked a big performance shop in perth if they i could sit in on my dyno tuning session and if they could show me how its done they reluctantly agreed for twice the price

  13. i just paid 26k for my 95 vspec 90000km basically stock. v good condition given that i wouldnt pay more than low 30s for 98 and it would have to be awesome condition and very low km any more and you could pick up an early model and have 10k for mods/rebuild/respray/restore whatever

  20. definetly the gold and in 18s , better looking fit to the 33 gtst I think . to big wheels with tiny tyres can look silly IMHO put gold racing stripes and gold sponser type lettering down the side and paint you calipers blue to match the blue lock nuts you buy for them
  21. hmmmm i always get there busy busy busy wonder what im doing wrong ......... need to spend more $$$ I think , that will put a smile on old kens dail anyway , if you get a djetro off nengun or one of the 4sale forum guys who are about as cheap as it will get theres maybe a 100$ or so difference fitted tuned and supply and or fitted tuned supply your own so may as well save yourself the hassle and get it from HD now if someone could explain exactly why I need a djetro for a gtr instead of a AFM one ....... surely 2x 80mm AFM will flow and measure enough air
  22. gold/bronze is always a good look on a dark car id go bronze with blue lock nuts thats what im putting on my silver gtr will be hot
  23. you will be lucky to get 20k if 2 door , 2-3k less if 4 door
  24. is it the same catback as the GTST one ? the trust website seems to have the same part number for both 10123001 so i could just order it from the website? how much is shipping to perth ?
