  1. I must watch that movie sometime...
  2. So am I... New cage design: I think I'll feel safe in that I may include corner bracing on the windscreen as seen here: If it is a) cheap b) CAMS legal c) cage builder says its worth doing I still want to brace it to the front strut towerish things (I honestly don't know what to call them after looking at the alfa's front suspension) too, but that will depend on it being: a) possible b) CAMS legal c) affordable. I don't know if theres enough room there to get bracing past the brake booster (and also possibly engine - may get tricky as I won't know where the engine sits when the cage is built...)
  3. Chuck Norris is in charge, and if you do skids or make a d*ck of yourself in the car park he will end you. Naah man we are welcome there, we buy ice cream and just hang out and catch up. The owner seems to like us coming, we get discount (anywhere from 10-60% depending on who's working and how lucky you are). The only time we ever had any trouble was one week when a bunch of w*nkers turned up, reved the sh*t out of their boostlosing mobiles and did skids, and generally made d*cks of themselves in the car park. The surrounding businesses called the cops and hired a private security guard, we had to relocate temporarily untill the dust settled. Those people are no longer welcome, and anyone else who behaves in a similar manner is also unwelcome. Everyone else is welcome It's also polite to buy ice cream since we take up most of their table space all night . As mentioned above, we get discount
  4. yeah, that'll go well... Good point 162 kW stock, with 11ty cats and tuned for EURO3/4 emissions should go nicely with Dan's GTA cams, nice flowing exhaust and intake, a tune, and mebbe some porting and polishing of the heads... +1 Yeah thats the one. 7.30ish, give or take
  5. mmm... the engine Dan has lined up for my alfa is a sexy beast
  6. why would you go to work for just a couple of hours?
  7. You dogged us again last night I'm starting to think you don't love me You know it link A little late, but I would have suggest perhaps sleep?
  8. We're looking at it at 6:30, so I don't imagine we'll be very late. Bout time Tristan turned up I reckon Why not? Cage for project alfa/200B/C110/whatever I get for a track car Don't remember if I replied or not already - I'm keen. That's what she said That's what she said That's what she said That's what sh... f*ck it I'm over it
  9. Yeah found this thread, it's given me a few ideas for changes. I might go with the V roof, it looks pretty strong (triangles) and not much more weight than the single bar
  10. Squares are bad. Triangles Yeah, but I think the second part of the "X" is redundant here. Leaving it out will save weight and probably cost. Unless the engineer tells me its important its gone. Yeah, but it also gives the most benefits for chassis rigidity. If its allowed by cams and not stupidly expensive, I'd like to include it. Yeah I havend decided yet... the two bent bars would be best but the single bar would be lighter and probably enough. Unless I decide to use it for rallying and then I'd want the double bars. I'm also tossing up wether to put a harness bar on the main loop as well so I don't have to run them right to the back...
  11. Preliminary Rollcage Ideas (courtesy of a picture off the internet and MSPAINT) Green bits will be included if they are affordable and allowed under CAMS (nothing about them in sched. J of the cams manual though) Purple bit will only be included if its cheap and the cage builder tells me its worthwhile. Not sure which way to go with side intrusion yet. If double, apparently the old school X is not strong at the join, it needs to be gussetted or use two bent pipes welded together instead. If single, I think I prefer it running right back to the harness bar as it doesn't create a bend point halfway up the main loop then...
  12. I'll bring it for you How much? Whats it come with? Where is it? Pics/etc?
  13. You know it +1 <3 Summary of what I have learned so far: Cage first, then seam weld (cage helps prevent heat warping the metal) Better if it can be on a chassis rig, but failing that, weight should be on the stock suspension points Weld inch on, inch off (solid welding bad) Try to move around a lot when doing it to stop one area copping a lot of heat at once Only do strut tower to strut tower, no point going further forward or back and can in fact make accident damage worse
  14. Sorry mang, researching fun stuff like seam welding and roll cages also the net here has aids today keeps dropping out Nope
  15. hmmmm might have some financial backing for project alfa
