  1. Supported by gravity But yeah - it doesn't really need any support, although the pipe which runs along the bottom of the radiator is supported by a series of 'tabs' welded to it and the radiator support bar.
  2. haha knew you would want a dyno print out - i'll scan it when I get home tonight Best place to shift seems about 5500rpm, but it's probably being a bit limited by the turbo size I'd say.
  3. well just got mine back from its first tune - it's only running 7-8ish PSI on a stock turbo, but anyway it made 154rwkw - feels very nice, and funnily it definatly feels faster than it did before, maybe those extra torques Should also mention it's an auto not a manual. Will do another few km's on it, and wind it up to 12 PSI or thereabouts, hopefully make a bit more. Few pics of the conversion:
  4. although, larger 'rims' doesn't mean a larger overall diameter of the mag/tyre - so it's generally okay with low profile tyres - ends up being about the same overall diameter (or very very close to it).
  5. spotted a white R34 pulled over by the cops on dequiteville tce. this morning at about 9:30
  6. Didn't even know they were having a concert lol - but I do listen to their music a lot, great group.
  7. Hmm... think I would have been at work at 5, although was kind of near south road at like 11pm though. My calais (not a commodore ) has the plates [VLCT], pretty easy to spot.
  8. anyone delt with action suspension before? I'm after a suspension specialist (not just someone who can change a set of springs).
  9. Just give him a buzz 8299 0621 He's an easy person to talk to and everything, and he hasn't cracked the shits with my car yet haha, even after all the crap he's had to go through - impressive IMO. He actually stays open quite late from what I've seen, until about 6ish - I'm not 100% when he opens up, but I've dropped my car off at 9 and it was open. Anyway I don't think a general service would be very much, his labour rates are extremely good. For a dyno tune he was saying about $145 (stock ECU)
  10. lol spotted a nice looking R33 at about 6:45 near north adelaide, turned the corner, and what do you know.... vange - i swear there must be multiple clones of that car driving around. edit: perhaps we need a seperate spotted: vange thread?
  11. I would almost say due to the effortless torque, and if you do a lot of city driving, the fuel economy difference would be negligable, if not better with the 3L - of course, totally depending on how its driven. But I'd say if you're worried about saving a couple of dollars per tank of petrol, maybe sell the modified skyline and buy an excel.
  12. Here is a brief breakdown of mine, I did a decent amount of the work myself as well which kept costs down by a grand or two I imagine. R33 RB25DET Head (injectors/turbo/manifolds) ~ $900 RB30E bottom end ~ $150 Full rebuild with CP forged pistons ~ $4000 R33 Loom/various sensors ~ $600 Wiring, tidying up and tuning at a workshop ~ $1500 PowerFC: $927 So there's about 8 grand, and there's probably a decent amount of misc. parts I've not added in. Take a grand or so off if you don't use the forged pistons...
  13. Yeah that sounds like the same one parked on hindley street sat night, very 'bling' rims lol, certainly was attracting some attention!
  14. Hi, I'm after an accelerator cable to suit an R33 (or any other of a similar length) - preferably in adelaide. cheers.
  15. yeah the CP pistons in mine were supposed to create about an 8.3:1 c/r as well, from memory they were flat
  16. got mine back yesterday, has a very mean "serious business" exhaust note haha. No boost as yet until it's run in, but even so definatly has more balls than the n/a i drive daily. Just itching to get some boost into it though.
  17. if it's the same BOND car i'm thinking of, it's british racing green very sweet car
  18. I just don't take anyone in the automotive industry on their quotes/time estimations. I have had my car off the road for 9 months, just to rebuild an engine and have the engine bay resprayed. I tried to choose the BEST and most reliable people to do the work (and payed good money), and while I have no complaints about the quality of work, the time taken was crazy. My most recent experience, have been told 3 weeks in a row my car would be ready, and promised it would be ready the week before easter, then told it would be ready last week (before easter)... hadn't even started the major part of the work when I went in there, and it's been there for close to over one and a half months just to wire it up and bolt up a gearbox. Previously, it took me 4 months to have a bare engine bay resprayed, and again, it was promised to be ready and had to 'extend the deadline' 8 times in a row (yes, 8!). Engine rebuild, took many months to happen and was told "it'll be ready next week" a heap of times. It's strange, I tell every new mechanic or auto person about these experiences and they generally laugh and say "oh we aren't like that" - but guess what happens. Anyway, hope you get your car back soon, terrible experience by the sound of it.
  19. From the opinions i've been hearing, that because of the sheer load of a dyno can put on the engine, it's prefered to bed the rings in on the dyno for starters - just wondering if this is what most people do, and just exactly how many k's you'd need to rack up...
  20. Spotted a boat load of R31's turning onto anzac highway this afternoon, and just after that a VERY nice silver R34-fronted stagea.
  21. seeing as there are some knowledgeable people here... how would you guys run in a brand new engine? It's been suggested that I run it in on the dyno, can anyone shed some more light on the implications of it?
  22. Yeah it's a 25/30, he thought it might have been up and running this week, but I told him there was a fair bit of work and escpecially with my cursed car it wouldn't be, and I was right.
  23. As always impressed with your efforts stocky but You should really get it powdercoated or whatever it is they do to exhaust manifolds.
  24. Yeah I'd be interested in what CPU's people are upgrading to these days, havn't had to buy one for so long! I've done everything else now, except the motherboard and CPU, so they are on the hitlist now.
