  1. Give boostworx a try, they're currently doing all of my wiring, etc - and I'm very impressed with shauns attitude and work ethic. Their pricing seems very reasonable compared to some of the so called other "performance workshops" in adelaide.
  2. Did someone call a plumber? haha Got rid of it when I had my engine bay tidied and and resprayed, but yeah it did the job for a while.
  3. Yeah - that pretty much sums it up, athough it's a bit of a stereotype. Friends g/f had a coolent leak in her car, and the temp gauge was slowly rising over a period of time - she didn't even think to check the coolent level and kept driving it. Anyway one day she went on a longer trip than usual, and it rose right up to the red, but she didn't even pull over, just kept going until the poor car did a head and she had to pull over... but yeah, unfortunatly most people have probably heard a story or two like that.
  4. We were having a similar discussion over on calaisturbo (http://calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=68593) about this, pretty much it's going to be hit-or-miss. I don't think it's possible to find an insurance company that will insure you on the street with a car that is 'defectable'. Sure they will take your money, but when it comes to you trying to get a claim back from them and they inspect your car to find mods that are 'not roadworthy', say bye bye to your payout (and possibly the cover for whatever you hit!).
  5. Just buy a brass fitting a kind of t-piece (which in reality is just a cylender with a thread in the side) from VDO. It will screw into your block where the oil pressure sender goes, you hook that into the end of the fitting, and use a bit of braided line to run a feed to the head. Some aftermarket cams work with vct but they are very expensive. And no the rb32 head doesn't need extra welds at the front.
  6. I'm thinking an rb20 block with a nissan patrol rb30 head - carby FTW!
  7. Lost (favourite show of all time - and dammit this week was a rerun!) American Dad Smallville Top Gear 24 CNNNN / the chasers war on everything Dr. Who (the new series) House MD Alias numb3ers
  8. wow that's quite cool, never knew they actually existed - may have to organise one I reckon.
  9. It's more to do with how well it's tuned and being careful, if you push them a bit far on the dyno or something, they will just shatter and that will be the end of it, while forgies or something will be more forgiving. But yeah, plenty of people run them with success so go for it I reckon.
  10. Did you get my PM? will you seperate the loom? prepared to pay decent money for it.
  11. Well I did get the whole engine built there, but really - to hook it up, you just need to drill and tap a fitting at the front of the head into the oil gallery, get a piece of braided hose and some fittings. Just put a t-piece onto the oil pressure sender for it to hook into.
  12. I didn't do mine myself (admitadly!) but the engineer who built it didnt have too much trouble just tapping a new oil line with a bit of braided hose in.
  13. bah could have told me earlier checked out one today which was very average, and ended up buying a vl calais haha
  14. GT42 sounds good IMO with all that torque available down low anyway....
  15. lol well - i should have probably said I don't want ANOTHER illegal car.
  16. Yeah had a bit of a browse there already actually, wasn't really too much that jumped out, althogh 1 might be a possiblity. Thanks about the rb25's, probably will steer clear of them, last thing I want is a car that isn't legal.

    R31s?

Hey all - i'm looking for a neat and tidy n/a R31 - anyone know of any for sale in adelaide at the moment? Did any R31's come with RB25's standard? Just wondering because there's also a couple of those in the trader, was thinking of checking one out... Anyway cheers - going to check out as many as possible over the weekend! B)
  18. I've got a complete rb30et spare block actually - but I'm in adelaide. check the www.calaisturbo.com.au forums. Or buy a long motor and flog off the head, etc - they sell fairly often too.
  19. You can do it with the det vct head, I've got one on mine, was simply a matter of basically tapping an extra oil feed with some braided hose. RB30's are cheap as chips, I mean you can buy a full running rb30 for a couple of hundred, short engines (ie just the block) I wouldn't pay much more than $100-$150 for.
  20. Yeah, I have an ET block floating around here somewhere actually. But anyway, I actually called up boostworx today, if only I could find some s2 coilpacks or an S1 loom I'd be in business almost. Pretty much taking it down there next week anyway, with the instructions not to call me until its running because I'm sick of seeing it. Got almost everything else bolted up and ready to go, just have to finish off the last min. bits over the weekend (finish relocating the battery and put the steering column back in hehe!).
  21. Thanks -may- be useful PM'd Possibly as an alternative, if someone has some s2 coilpacks (complete) I could use them.
