  1. When sold new, the PFc comes with 4 small pieces of adhesive backed Velcro to hold it against the bodywork. High tech.
  2. Yes the chime is at 100. Drives you crazy on 110 highways. As suggested, remove the instrument cluster and you'll see the silver box on the rear of the speedo.(about the size of a matchbox) Remove both wires and the box, re-install the screws, all fixed.
  3. Use a series/parallel circuit to get 2-speed fans.
  4. [quote name='Al' date='2 Feb 2009, 04:23 PM' post='4403111' If you are already thinking of the option to get a rb25 box, then do it, as you'll eliminate two possible issues: 1/ the strength of the rb20 box 2/ the repairer. Also your driving style can also effect how long you gearbox last [/quote Agreed, BUT I'm suggesting the repairer. For an Rb20 to make any serious power in 5th, he's got to be doing >200kph. Look at your typical 200rwkw Rb20 dyno chart, big power isn't happening until way at the top end. There simply isn't sufficient torque happening at around 100kph in 5th to pull the skin off a custard. Your typical Rb20 gearbox damage is in 3rd where the engine can develop Hp. via big RPM. Not so much 1st or 2nd as traction issues limit the load. With decent power, the layshaft input gear will shear off the woodruff keys and that's it.
  5. This is the sort of simplistic crap we constantly see from Government talking heads, not real drivers. Do you actually watch your speedo ALL THE TIME????? I know on my recently changed 90k highway, I spend way too much time watching the speedo instead of the road. Really clever thinking here.......NOT !!!!!! The rationale is that we go out and buy a new car with cruise control for the straights and hills, and nice big brakes to wear out on the downhills.
  6. I don't think you can avoid the dings these days as the average car owner just doesn't give a toss. Have a good look at EVERY car at the shops. You'll see far more expensive vehicles than the average Skyline, with multiple dings along the bodywork. Doesn't matter if you drive a complete dunger, some lazy prick will still crash their door onto you, or just drive over you. My old jigger had the left rear door bashed in so far you couldn't open the window. Big 4WD tyre marks on the paint. Another time it scored the right front and bumper, same big black tyre marks. If the 4WD's don't get you the shopping trolleys will. I believe 4WD owners need light truck licencing as most of them have absolutely no idea where their corners are.
  7. You've had all the universals, centre bearing and centre bearing support rubber replaced? The stock uni's are peened in, so all this work must have been done by a driveline workshop? Since all the obvious items have been replaced, presumably by professionals who will have also done a full shaft balance, the only thing left is they may have bolted the centre uni out of phase with the front when bolting the 2-piece shaft together. Worth checking your gearbox mount too.
  8. Here you go. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...ng-t168895.html
  9. FFS Don't use 5th gear, only ever use 4th. 1/2" rattle gun is only a toy and even 3/4" or 1" depends on having a massive air supply. I can't see you fitting a rattle gun in there anyway, so use a decent socket set, at least 3/4" drive, tee brace and a length of pipe.

Some changes today, back up to 100k near Curra. Not quite where it should be of course, the Bells Bridge exit is still in the 90 zone. Maybe it will altered in the next "review". I feel sorry for you courier guys, especially now with the Christmas traffic. I do North Coast/Gympie a few times per week and I've been getting overtaken by lots of irate drivers who mustn't be seeing the thousands of signs.

Not councilors, the State Government. The Gympie Regional Council has requested that the previous speed limits be re-instated, at least from Gympie North to Curra. This would fix the problems created at the Bells Bridge turnoff, a junction that had just been altered to assist the Burnett Highway traffic to merge. As some councilors live out that way, (Kilkivan etc) they've probably had first hand experiences with this balls-up. Unfortunately this won't help if you live at Cooran or any of the other towns where highway access has just been upgraded at HUGE expense.

Can't believe how stupid we all looked in single file up the nice new Black Mountain passing lane. Forking enormous waste of our money. To top it off, the surveyors were also out pegging for the next 4-lane extension. I note a lot of their pegs surveyed last week have already been given the treatment by the slasher.

Well it’s done. 90kph from the top of Cooroy mountain all the way to Curra. The brothers were finishing the massive sign alterations today and what an effort with teams working from both ends to get it done on time. All I can say is WTF?????? Main Roads has only just completed the Black Mountain passing lane, fixed up the killer patch at Federal, new passing lanes at Traveston turnoff, passing lane South of the Burnett Highway turnoff etc etc. and all for 90kph. When I came through today, it was a non-stop line of cars crawling along at well under 90. Stands to reason, if the first car is doing 90, the next is back at 88 , next at 85 and so on. Excellent conditions for nose to tail collisions. My poor old dunnydoor didn’t know what the hell was going on and changed right back to 2nd going up Black Mountain. Hardly economical driving. But here’s the killer. With a continuous stream of cars, vehicles wanting to enter the highway haven’t enough room to accelerate up to speed and then merge. I saw a mobile home waiting to join in at the Borumba Dam entry. Lots of luck mate. Then at Bells Bridge, traffic was stalled way back over the bridge as a B-double was trying to turn South onto the highway. Simply not enough space/time to get his rig across the highway. Bloke in a 4x got the shits with everyone at the Curra passing lane and overtook . But at the end, everyone had bunched up and no-one could let him back in. Here he is at 110+ down the wrong side of the road, over double lines the lot. And for anyone else who might think about passing on overtaking lanes, be warned, I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen the radar van at the South end of the Federal passing lane. With the recent increases in traffic fine fees, this is nothing more than a revenue raiser of the worst kind, timed down to the last Christmas $.
  14. Sorry Johnny, but bullshit. 4000rpm in 1st isn't taking it easy in the wet. You've learned a lesson, short shift to reduce the power available.
  15. Don't know if this will help. Not really online auction fraud but maybe the police data base already has some hits to this guy's bank account. http://www.police.qld.gov.au/programs/crim...nternet/report/ Doesn't matter if it's $60 or $6000. It's theft and most of us have been ripped by a scammer at some time.
  16. [quote for $7K you could get an RB25neo in there and upgrade the brakes. And a stronger gearbox, not the poor old FS5W71C from back in R32 days. Seller didn't show much integrity when using the standard Carsales defaults. You can always write a story in the Comment section, explaining that the engine is actually an Rb20, not an Rb25.

+1 for these guys, but not all ABS shops though. He got discs/pads for the Aristo where others hadn't a clue, and all were in stock, that was the amazing bit. They simply know their stuff and deliver for bugger all extra too.
  18. We never had anything like that. Drove to town picked up the local copper, went for a drive. He asked how far I’d stop from a rail crossing. I said 500m. Why so far? To be on the safe side I said. Did a hill start. He said you didn’t use the handbrake. I said didn’t need to. He got out; put a bit of chalk behind the wheel. Now do it and if you crush the chalk you fail. Didn’t crush the chalk. OK now what about my tractor licence? Where’s the tractor. On the farm, wanna go see? No she’s right. How about my semi licence. Where’s the semi? Just stop that one (one of Dad’s). Got in and went for a drive. These things are big he says, never been in one before. Can you reverse up that street? No worries, back it up, tear the bitumen to bits turning the tri-axle. Shit, didn’t know it would do that, let’s go back to the station. All good he says, just remember you can’t drive any better today because you’ve now got a licence than you could yesterday. True.
  19. It's actually a circlip, probably just not installed correctly and it popped back out. Grab a couple of oil filters with your new oil if you haven't done a service in over 7000k's. Your nice new oil will quickly strip the gunk off which then goes straight to the filter. Do a filter change after say 500k's, top up according to the stick and hope your lash adjusters come good.
  20. Yeas, some people haven't a clue what damage "speed bumps" can do. Here in hell town, there's massive road works. They had a 40k speed section and a stop-go man. As the killer, they also had one of those fabricated steel speed bumps bolted to the road. You know the ones, you get them at shopping centres etc and you have to really crawl over them. Unfortunately were all bumper-to-bumper thanks to the stop go man, so we didn't even see the speed bump until BANG. You try hitting one of those bastards at 40.
  21. "quote" Internal GT-Pro; 0.68, 0.87 A/R "quote" Have a look in the turbine housing and see what A/R is stamped there. Either 0.68 OR 0.87 A genuine buyer will want this info.
  22. Certainly work on ships, wharves, steel piles etc, but can't see how they can work out of water. Lots of cars have them however and their owners are convinced.
  23. In the first in a series of knee jerk reactions, I’ll bet Main Roads extends the 80K zone from Matilda right past the Amamoor turnoff.
  24. Hey Aaron, you drive a lot through there, what the fork is happening???? A bloody idiot caravan escaped from a B double when he pulled out from the muster turnoff, Monday I think. (B-double wasn't quite so lucky) Yesterday there were more fatalities involving 2-semis and a car. Then on Tuesday I got stuck in a massive traffic jam South of Federal while the CES cleaned up from yet another crash. One thing I did notice when driving through there on Wednesday was the 33 felt like it had a flat tyre. Stopped at Matilda to check and all good, it just felt wrong. Any thoughts about the road surface???
