  1. Hey people. Usually post in the Japan section but thought some might be interested in this. Had a little play with some of the latest Nismo demo cars last firday. Test was carried out at the Ashinoko Skyline. V35 Skyline 350GT with a complete S1 engine and S-tune parts: This is the limited edition complete 350Z S-tune GT. This car is built to celebrate Nismos 20th annyversary and the entry of the 350Z in GT500 racing. So much better than the standard car, and has the same S1 engine as the Skyline above. These are the other 2 demo cars Nismo brought. The Elgrand and the S-tune Micra with an amazing R-tune suspension kit! You can see more pix from the day here. The boss of MCR also showed up with an R34 GTR and a 996 GT3 Mk2...

    Japanese Police

I think you've answered the question yourself there. Its probably done because its always been done for decades. Thats how a lot of stuff works in japan. So much bureaucracy that even obvious stuff is overlooked because a piece of paper says different. I would expect that the police body in Japan is one of the most bureaucratic institutions in the country, so change is very difficult(read impossible). You see a lot of stuff like this in Japan. Its always been done, why question it?

They hold a lexan wind deflector that deflects air flow over the red light on top of the roof...or else bye bye lights and siren
  4. Dave...I have no idea if the Rays ones would fit. But looking at the pdf for your wheels they don't list any center caps. You could try to contact them and see if they can help? Maybe they have other center caps that might fit your wheels. Or just leave them... (BTW...damn they charge a lot of money for custom color!)
  5. did they come with center caps? or are you going for the "raw" look:D:D
  6. Sweet!! They look perfect! They are so damn clean..for now;) Gotta paint those brake callipers red now

Eh eh....just a few times:D But I'm a good boy and never brake the speed limits or anything like that:D
  8. great find there Dave!
  9. Dave...afraid I don't know the stock numbers for the GT-V. But you don't want 0 in the back! So that figure looks ok to me. Best thing to do is to drive it around and find an empty car park and see how it behaves on the limit and if its what you like your car to do. Sorting out the handling is the best thing you can do for your car, and probably the hardest! Unless you are one of those people that are all for straight lines;) Weather has been poor here too....but it seems to be clearing up now! I hope the raniy seasnon hasn't come early this year!!
  10. Wahey Dave! New wheels! Come on...where are the pix?:D

They have always been friendly(ish) with me. Never arrogant.
  12. Al = A"L"uminium = no bonnet vent
  13. M-specs and M-spec Nurs have the Al bonnet. So the car in the pic is a V-spec 2 Nur as its Millenium Jade. M-specs also came in the M-spec-only Silica Breath color (which is goldish not greenish like MJ). Hope this makes sense:)

    Fuel in Japan.

bit hard to answer your question as Japan doesn't use Ron or Ron+Mon/2 to measure fuel octane rating. They have their own JIS standard method to come up with the number, which is usually 100 octane for "hi-oku". Not sure about "regular" simply because they are not forced by law to display the octane numbers at the pumps.
  15. Happy birthday Dave!!! Or as we say where I'm from, Tanti Auguri:)
  16. Dave...I'm sure you would qualify to join! Your car is BB, nuff said:D:D Tried to find out if there is one this year...looked at the GTROC website...seems completely dead...last update 2 years ago!! Bah...screw it...I'm sure our meet well be better;)
  17. Have a look at this thread here: http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/showthre...0789#post190789 If you can make it then please join us!
  18. Yep, long drive, but as usual the tiring part has to be the traffic on the Shuto rather than the blast on the Joban & Chuo! BTW...there should be a GTROC meeting coming up this month(usually mid-May). I'll have to find out where it is. They held it at the Skyline museum a few times I believe
  19. Dave...cheers for the info. I'll probably head over next week or the next. I want to go there with my brother, who gets here this friday. Plus I've already tried going somewhere during Golden Week...just don't work. You end up making a journey twice as long what with all the traffic and queues. I think I'll just chill out this week! No driving for me;)...or I'll jut end swearing at every car on the road:D
  20. Nice pix Dave! Looks like you went on the perfect day! Did you get any pix of nice BNR34s? Oh...love the BNR34 test mule! I'll have to go just to see that car!!!
  21. the one in the pic <<<------ Although I nick my dads Accord on a very regular basis. He's not here 80% of the time so I can consider it my cheap run about:D
  22. Can't go wrong with snowboarding/skiiing in Japan. I went to Nagano twice, first time during a school trips many years ago(the school conveniently had a chalet there...cool or what!). I've been to Hokkaido in Sahoro, Nagano again, a few other spots close to Ibaraki, but IMO nothing comes close to Zao in Yamagata-ken. I go there almost every year...superb spot, very Japanese and only packed during the busy season/days. Never ending slopes to ski on, it'll take you a good 3-4days to do them all properly. Snowfall reaches silly amounts...I think they get 6-7 m at the top where the snow-monsters form around the pine trees. Amazing place! And the best....after a hard days skiing a nice hot onsen outside while snow is falling!
  23. Don't really get challenged too often. There is this guy with a silver M3 I seem to meet a few times a month on the same road....still hasn't learned not to bother after being humiliated! I get people on the fast lane of the Joban expressway trying it on often...I had a hell of a race with a 355 once...that was so much fun...proper hooligan driving but in the end I got him....no way that asthmatic V8 can pack speed as fast as the RB!! He didn't look too happy:D Other than that its either S500/fast Mercs or Celsiors with Shinagawa plates that usually drive fast. Apart from this I tent to find that most people with tuned sports cars drive rather sensibly on the roads. Or maybe most people know not to bother against a GTR! You never know what people have done to their engines here
  24. Dave....yeh ok lets swap....insurance bills that is. 9000 Yen a month....you don't know how lucky you are!L:D Mr. paizuri(nice name!)....nothing to do with theaft...they don't steel cars in Ibaraki, they crash into them! 285 year old farmers with kei car pick ups driving like they were the only people on the road. Mothers more interested in answering mail messages on their mobiles rather than driving their 2 ton MPVs properly(well actually thats 80% of drivers in Japan!). More old people driving their NC300 or Celsiors at 30 km/h everywhere while sleeping at the wheel...or just general ignorance once behind the wheel! Sometime its shocking what you see people do on roads! Theft is not a problem, where I live at least, I leave the car open with the keys inside half the time. The only stuff they steal around here its bicycles. Cars are stolen in Tokyo and other cities.
