  1. That was very sarcastic!! I know what ecu is but not which one is what Fair enough you can take the e our and say computer unit etc but generally people do say it is x ecu y ecu Anyway , i will google and if anyone isn't as sarcastic and helpful of gtsboy then reply ( if i dont myself after googling model number)
  2. Cool know the black one but wasn't sure about the breather and bov return Mine has a blitz bov or dump valve close to the throttle plate, is that not standard or bov comes with these cars ? The return pipe is blanked off so guess it may be it was used and not it no longer it ?? Can you block both of those pipes and remove them ? Mine has a bov or dump valve on the
  3. Hi , What are the two pipes that get out of this pipe and one is blocked off and one connected to the oil vapour feed on the rocker cover http://m.ebay.com.au/itm/181717607253?nav=SEARCH
  4. Hi All, poking around with the car I found few ecus and appreciate if someone can tell me which one is what . pics below also my ecu looks like it had some wire cuts , I am thinking the previous owner may have changed it to those boards that still use same shell with different board. is there a way to find out without opening it? does the dignostic software tell you ? 1.in the boot passenger side( is it hicas?) 2.boot driver side (hicas or abs ?) 3.under passenger footwell ( ecu )? look at the tampered wires suggesting cutting was done 4.under driver side footwell close to the gas pedal , what is it ? 5.under drive side footwell close to clutch 6. and this in the fuse box , what are they ? Many thanks
  5. when you say 6 drivers, does that mean it can run 6 injection at the same time meaning it can run a 12 pot engine assuming 2 cylinder are firing at any one time ? is haltech better or G4 , everyone in UK says g4 from link ecu
  6. any view on the discs? I want to changed them to standard discs again and dba which is Australian made I think is only £100 for a pair where as EBC and motec is almost £200. is DBA any good for street and occasional track use?
  7. many thanks . As said don't want to spend fortune but seems g4 is the only option when you say experience with skyline, is that a general term of knowing what they are etc or knowing engine internals to bits
  8. less than 500 bhp for the next few years I would say as above that needs forge piston etc which as I see will not be spending money on I am inclined toward nistune one question which I hope I don't get hard time for it is , can you do diy mapping ? here is how I have seen it is done . the guy puts it on dyno and then looks at the ecu target value and real value and adjusts the fuel map and timing map to get as close as possible to the target value . so if this is the case then I can punch those number in and don't pay £400 for re map and rather pay £100 for dyno or get someone to driving the car in high way in 1st gear across the range and tune the values. is the map gear and rpm dependent or simply rpm dependent ?
  9. HI All, I have spent good few hours reading around and trying to make my mind up on ecu for my r34 GTT. Here is what I have so far and also this will be useful for anyone wanting to buy an ecu in the future and is new to this like I am now options are 1.Nistune - This seems to do all that is needed including having a software which user can use . I think you have to pay £150 for the software though. It has knock map and pretty much tunable to 500bhp . I need the ecu type 4 and it costs around £250 where as the cost of the chip in Australia is only $300 so around £200 2.Power fc plus commander. I love it but most people say it is very basic and does not allow any tuning of throttle plate fueling etc and has no knock map but has a knock warning. I like it for having the unit which displays live data and most people have had good success with it so not sure whether to buy it or not. if engine is knocking , I guess the water temp and a/f ratio plus oil temp can give a quick indication to stop the engine blowing up , right ? or do you need something like nistune to avoid knoking and have a safe map ? cost should be around 0.7k or seconds hand for 0.5k but I haven't had any luck finding one . issue is , my car is not listed on apexi as supported but then then the ecu listing says it support rb25det series 1 and 2 . series 1 is the 250 bhp r33 gtst and series 2 is the r34 gtt i think . This is diy configurable as far as i know . 3. Link G4 plugin , seems to do all that plus a lot more such as lunch control etc which I really don't care about but people suggest it is robust and one should get it . the cost is circa of 1.2K if you fit it yourself or 1.6-1.8 for external fit and remap. 4. Link G4 extreme , same as above with even more features most of which may never be used. cost around 1.3kish diy 5.haltech ecu which is again similiar to g4 extreme . lots of others such as hks and top end ones . part of me says just get power fc as it does all that is needed but then other part says get g4. with the amount I will be paying for G4 , I can get a power fc and set of injectors plus set of coil packs and fuel pump so all that is needed is turbo to gain around 400-450 mark hp at wheel. what would you have done ? would you get g4 or power fc? between power fc and nistune which one would you pick ? do both allow you to do diy changes such as increasing rev ? ( i know power fc does). where can one source cheap power fc as most on ebay around around 1k mark so making their purchase point less.
  10. Cool wasn't sure re cc So if i get a 600 cc then that is safe and will not overfuel but rather provide as much as the ecu asks? I am thinking of getting link ecu
  11. money is an object after spending quite a bit so far and here is what is left so almost broke front disc and pad radius rod bush maybe entire coilover as the current ones at the back are shot and making a squeeking and even bang noise hks delete front intercooler 550 cc injectors( is it true the cc somehow represents the max hp ?) is r34 GTT 340 by standard? turbo insurance exhaust manifold and that is few k so not having £400 spent on boost gauge helps tremendously
  12. did that but really fancy something that shows gauges etc which just realised the ecu talk is a good choise also there is informetec from greddy but it is obd 2 But in principle it needs to be boost controller so may just get the cheap gizzmo ones. are they reputable ? I have looked at all options they offer and hks seems to offer boost control per throttle position rpm etc where as gizmoo is pretty basic
  13. ok so that is now off my head as not willing to spend 1k to buy gtr calipers. will leave it as it is . would you think dba is any good or get ebc ? ebc is almost double
  14. Hi All, I have spent few hours looking into few different types of boost controllers. As some of you may know my car is r34 skyline and I want to get something reliable and future proof that also looks nice and is featuristic so far I have looked at hks, greddy , bltz , apexi , gizzmo and few others and all seem to do the same job . the main one that stands out is the hks but pricey at £300 for the evc-s but I rather have the evc which is almost £500 next is blitz which also allows you to monitor other sensors which normally power fc allows you to see. as it stands I am really struggling with any more cost but also want one so badly so if you were me which one would you have picked? are there cheap alternatives that are good quality and worth a try ? I like to have the ability to monitor other ecu parameters from it many thanks
  15. no oil dripping on it from anywhere. it seems the rocker cover is leaking but that is far back . do the bushes have some sort of grease or oil in them or someone has put oil on to stop it squeeking ( previous owner) "Radius rods typically are mounted ahead of the wheel. In that position they resist dive under braking forces and wheel hop underacceleration." could be that then many thanks by the way is dba a good brand? In UK i am seeing ebc and mtec for brake discs and they are £200 for a pair of front discs compared to £100 for dba
  16. yep, thought i add some type of spacers or change caliper and disc is it worth it ? does 15mm makes a big difference ? also the link between subframe and front cross member which has a big rubber bush in it seems as it is leaking grease or oil, could it be that ? I am trying to find a picture so can share it . here is the pic of the bush
  17. So change disc then only ? Would 15 mm give any noticeable improvement?
  18. Today i was driving in motorway and brakes were bad almost no braking power and the pedal felt softish I dont think it needs bleeding rather disc is gone bad time If i am to change it , i want to get the bigger routers and set of pads Looking around it seems my rotor is 310mm , and gtr is 324 Is it a direct fit?
  19. Hi , I own a r34 skyline GTT and have purchased three evo series 52mm gauge to install in the center console. I soon found out they were 60mm despite my initial measurements so now sellotaping around it to make it fit this info is for anyone in future whom sees this so won't make the same mistake again now If i want to install 6 gauges which is 3 more, is there a 6 gauge holder after market ones rather than mounting them using metal ? many thanks
  20. so check wheel bearing and rotor. I could clean the rotor to see what difference that makes . what size are the uprated gtr ones so can buy those as I am buying them anyway rather than machining etc . would you get the drilled ones ?
  21. It is 280 bhp standard at flywheel Saying there is 50 loss at wheel (20%) that makes 230 theoretically so 200kw is 268 bhp meaning it will be around 310 bhp with decat and remap?
  22. what do you mean by Vanilla , the brand ?
